So, uh, today i was told that adoration should not be practiced before mass, and i was told that the vatican supported that.

I dunno if this is true or not, but any enlightenment (like a link to an encyclical or other church document) would really be nice. it's just that i've not heard of this, and i'd like to read about it...

if this doesn't make sense, i can expound upon it...

i don't mean to limit this to just phatcatholic, either...

anyone else that can "answer" my "question" or provide any type of helpful link, please do! i'd really appreciate it!

also, if no such document or practice exists, please let me know as well, because i then need to have a word with the person who told this to me...

well, the obvious question is "in what document does the Vatican say this?" since it is him making the claim, it is really up to him to provide the proof. what i can do is provide some church documents about eucharistic adoration and you can see if they contain anything like what your friend is saying. however, i doubt you will find it, for i see no reason why the eucharist can not be adored before mass. i know that at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, KY, before daily mass parishoners can adore the Blessed Sacrament while others are going to confession. it just seems [i][b]right [/b][/i]to me.

i noticed in one article that it said "it's up to the diocese regulation" but never did it say anything about the vatican...

i dunno if my diocese has a policy on it or not, but i'll check into it...

I do not know if the Florida Bishops count as the Vatican but they put out a document in which they were down on the practice. Here is the Document.

maybe i missed it, but where does ur first link say that there should not be eucharistic adoration before mass? also, ur second link takes you to the catholicculture homepage instead of to a specific article

where does ur first article talk about not having adoration before mass? can you quote the pertinent paragraphs?

Sure,

At the Bottom of page two through page three.

It talks about how perpetual adoration being liturgically ineffecient and that there should only be brief periods of exposition, mostly during processions.
