kateri05
I'm not sure if this is the right phorum, so if this needs to be moved, thats cool, but i figured i would ask here since so many of you phatmasser Church Faithful and Church Militant types are so holy and knowledgeable that you might know the answer! i have to answer the following question for an application for a formation series offered by the Archdiocese of LA: In a single paragraph, describe the development of catechesis over the past 20-25 years. well, since i am preparing to enter a graduate program to learn what that question even MEANS, i have no idea how to answer that. does anyone have any references (short and condensed, i only need a paragraph! ) i could go to answer that? and, i want to give the nice, orthodox, faithful to the magisterium answer, but obviosuly, i dont need to tell you that! thanks guys!! much affection in Christ, Lina
Fides_et_Ratio
Here's a cool Apostolic Exhortation written by JPII.... probably a lot longer than you want to sift through. But perhaps it might be helpful? p0lar_bear
Just as a note: I'd be wary of any catechetical formation from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles...very bad track record. They tend to invite a lot of dissedents to speak (such as Charles Curran and Sr. Grammick, who were both disciplined by the CDF for their views). Theoketos
And then there's the Cathedral where Mary looks like Amelia Airheart as a foot ball player.

kateri05
I've seen that too. I believe the door to the Cathedral where that statue stands is covered with symbols from all the world's religions.
guys, this is my DIOCESE!! it's so sad. actually i work to help organize the big Religious Education Congress that the diocese hosts every year and yea... some of the speakers... sketch. but hey, they all have to be approved by the Cardinal (which is why, i'm assuming, that the woman who lectures on women "returning" to the deaconate didn't get in ), so the Holy Spirit wouldn't let it get too bad. i'm taking this ministry formation class through the diocese because most of the ministry positions in the dioceses, like youth minister, confirmation coordinator, DRE, etc etc require diocesean certification so i really have no choice... needless to say, i'm sure i'll be back to you guys with lots questions during the course to correct any misinformation! again, thanks!
