It was worth the money to go see and I'll buy it on DVD. It's a Shyamalan movie, so expect so acutal thinking to be involved instead of the cheesy no-brainers that dominate the screen nowadays.

good good, ill definately have to go see it then. from the previews it looks great, but you've convinced me i must see it.

its a lot nicer to have to think in a movie then just kinda watch a story line die off. i just recently saw the new version of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, all it is a slasher movie with no thinking behind it. no offence if youve seen it and liked it but it wasnt scary one bit, and it was rather a waste of time.

but anyway i look forward to seeing the village, maybe ill get a good scare n think a bit

thnx

It's a good movie, just not a scary movie.
It's more of a thought-provoking movie. Watch it with an open mind - but don't watch it expecting it to be really scary.

This movie is somewhat suspenseful, but not really scary.
I enjoy M. Nights movies, because they make you think,
and put pieces together. I enjoy The Village, because of the
love and courage the characters had, to take risk for the
welfare of others...
Oh man, I feel like such a fool for paying for this flick and wasting 90 minutes of my life on it. I wanna get my $6 back and beat the junk out of M. Night Shaya-whatever-the-fudge.
Okay, so you didn't like it, but WHY?

This movie just can't make up it's mind. It looks like a horror slasher flick in the advertising, but in the end it was the least of what I was expecting it to be. I wasn't expected to be scared, but I was expected to be entertained.

The acting was horrible. The actors (and especially most of the actresses) just could not convey their emotions to be believable, it looks like there were dragged on the set forced to act that movie out.

The plot and ending were very dissapointing for me. C'mon, the monsters were not real the whole time. The very last one looked awesome (except when he moved, look at his legs and you can tell it's fake), I'll give it that.

It was more of a love story than anything else. The ending showing the blind woman bringing the remedy to Luscious told it all. I was not expecting lovey-dovey cr ap.

1/2 of the movie was useless bablling, and only 1/4 of that mumbo jumbo were the monsters which "they do not speak of" (oooh...!). They hardly showed the red-clad monsters.

Other than the magnificent violin work of Hillary Hahn, the "creativity" of cool monsters in red robes, and the attractive trailers, I don't see any reason to see this movie. It's talky, it's silly, it's not worth $6 or 90 min. of my life.

The monsters represented the real fears of the "elders." These fears were rape and murder, torture, hate, persecution, etc. The monsters or belief in them were the backbone of the village. The point wasn't that the omsters were real, but that they weren't They were the personification of the reality of Evil. Awesome, awesome.

As for the acting, i can understind. The movie was a dialouge movie. I like those. The moive was more like real life in the woods. The city smells of elderberries and sometimes, whether we are in the country or city, we tend to forget the beauty of simplicity. The acting conveys the reality of an isolated life in a semi-utopian society.

I guess it was a love story, but so is the Bible. I see the village like this. The blind girl was the only one brave enough to see. She had faith beyond. It was right for thier parents to put the futre on her and the guy she loved, they were the hope. He was willing to stand up and she was willing to sacrifice. I think the mive wqas more abou the Ture myth than abou the love between the two.

As for the monsters, I thought it was excellent that they weren't the main focus or the kicker. The fact that they were living in present times was the kicker! Also, the mentally handicapped kid was an integral part of understanding things. He was the first to know that the monsters weren't real.

I still liked it and i understnd why you didn't Nikkan. :P
