golden.silence
I don't know if these stores are in your local malls or not... The name of the store is Spencer's Gifts. It used to be a kind of gag shop, funny t-shirts, stuff for your college dorm type store... Now, it's completely UNclassy... While my wife was shoppin' in another store, I wandered in to find 4 kids...prolly around 12-13 years old, gawking and sifting through greeting cards with half-naked men and women on them AND staring at posters of nearly naked women and men in store... I don't know...it was really wrong...bothered me quite a bit...no warnings for kids to not go in... So...basically...I don't know how many teenage boys AND girls were given a WARPED idea of sexuality in our culture because of a lack of appropriate censorship... This store was RIGHT BY a Payless Shoe Source in the mall and an athletic store... Makes me ILL... golden.silence
Kilroy the Ninja
Yeah, Spencer's has been around forever. At least since I was 13 and 14 and that was 20 years ago. Yeah, they're pretty tasteless and have gotten more so in the last 10 years or so. Just one more place to avoid, unless you're looking for that neon green lava lamp or the amazing beer glass that never runs out of beer...
Cesar624
Yeah, they opened one in a mall around here too.
Wynd
There's one in a mall by me. My friend and I went in there the other day, and I noticed that Christianity/Catholicism has been sold out. They had bead curtains with pictures of Jesus or Mary, Jesus bobble head dolls, t-shirts that said stuff like "Jesus Christ Choppers" or "Jesus is my homeboy" or (with a picture of the Last Supper) "The first boy band". Seems a little irreverent to me, especially with all the other aforementioned stuff in there.
Ash Wednesday
Oy, vey, I look back on my childhood and I think of the things I came across, whether they were stores, magazines laying around, or movies that friends' parents, or older siblings had playing, and in retrospect I think "oh man, I really should not have been seeing that when I was that age..." Maddalena
Oh, man, I hate Spencer's. e.e It's tacky and untastful. It's just carp. >:C
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I used to go in there a few years back... But I'd never gawk at everything half-naked... it made me pretty sick and all the "sex toys" they have... I would only go in there to check out the "hippie" stuff... Sad store... It's been in our mall for a LOOOOOOOONG time... Can't remember the last time I went to the mall...
picchick
My mall is full of nasty things like that. The last time my family was there was a few months ago. We didn't go through the mall. Victoria's Secret is the worst. When I was at the mall about a month ago by myself there were GUYS going in there, and some of them were like 14 or 16. Why the heck would a guy NEED to go in there?? Ambecrombie and Fitch is another bad store. Boycott written all over it.

theculturewarrior
One time I went to the mall on a sort of "date," and the girl I went with took me through the "adult" section of Spencer's gifts. Just for the record ladies, that's not how you find a good Catholic man.

IcePrincessKRS
I despise Spencers. I refuse to go in there. lol I once made someone mad when I was shopping with them because I wouldn't go in with them. I have to admit, though, I like Victoria's Secret. Not because of their window displays or anything like that--heavens NO! That isn't really something appropriate for the majority of people who walk past the storefront. But when you get down to the basics they make the best quality undergarments you're likely to find. Their stuff will last you for years and years.
