I know the commentary is rather straight forward but could someone help me out with it i really want to make surei understand this properly so its not that the Author is saying its not inspired but rather that he is hoping his style is the best it could be?

From the way I understand it William, that's what it's saying, that the author has wrote down the history and he hopes that his style of writing is pleasing to the reader rather than not pleasing or confusing I gather.

i would need to read the justifications made by the people who are asserting this, b/c i really don't see any indication that he is denying the inspiration of what he is writing. all the author has done here is express his wish that this words will be pleasant in their effectiveness. are we to assume that this man is the only inspired writer who has desired such? at any rate, an author can be inspired by the holy spirit and still wish that his work be appealing to his audience.

especially concerning the gospels and paul's letters, biblical scholars have long since noted particular intentions by the authors for what they have written (for example, Paul's emphasis on faith in his letter to the Romans). this does not take away from their inspiration.

i hope this helps.........pax christi,
