†JohnBoy†
Hello, i was at Emmaus Days in oklahoma the other day and some semenarians, youth ministers, and I stumbled upon a question in an old game called Catholic Trivia which was made Pre Vatican 2, the question read: Name the 5 sacraments of the living. The answer read: Holy Orders, Extreme Unction, Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation, and Confirmation. What does this make the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist??? nobody at camp nor I knew this, id much appreciate the answer to this. thank you. BLAZEr
The Sacraments of the Living are usually considerered to be: Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Holy Orders, Holy Matrimony, and Anointing of the Sick. The sacraments are properly and fruitfully received by souls in a state of Grace, they sustain the life of the soul and restore the life of the body. The sacraments of the dead are Baptism and Reconciliation. Baptism brings a dead soul into life, as a son of God and opens them up to a life of grace. Reconciliation (Confession/Penance) restores a soul that has fallen from grace back life. I'm not sure why the card said what it did. I guess it goes to show that even Pre-Vatican II there were typos and errors!
