I am going to World Youth Day in 2005, well, at least I hope I am. I need to raise some funds, not only for myself, but for the group of 20-some youth that I am going with. I need some creative ideas that use little money to do and are relatively easy to explain and pull off... We have already had a "Late Night Catechism" Event to raise some moolah along with 3 or 4 car washes... I need to start doing some fundraising on my own now... I just need some ideas!

Links or anything would be appriciated! Please, no candy sales...

Thanks for anything!

God Bless and Mary Protect...
Yours in the Most Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary,

Angela +

car washes?

what about candle sales? that's what my group will be doing. the company is Home & Garden Party. pretty good profits.

another good one that we almost ended up doing was http://www.elitefundraising.com The only reason we couldn't do it is because we couldn't get approved by the Finance Council in time

Another cool thing to do is to sell fundraising exemption cards. You sell them for $50 or something, and that guarantees that person you won't go asking them for any money for the next year (or whatever time limit you have). I'll post the attachment, just a sec.

There's two parts to it.

but you still have to do other fundraisers so people know they are "exempt" from them.

bake sales, car washes, etc. are all a good way to do this.

That exempt thing is so awesome! How did you come up with that? That is really original! It's kinda like pay us money not to put a toliet in your front yard, or pay us to put it in someone elses front yard... hehe ^_^

Let's see... You have probably thought of most of these, but here you go anyways, just in case:

babysitting
car wash
rent-a-youth (advertised in newpaper or bulletin, offering to do odd jobs)
face painting at church functions by donation
bake sale
raffles
walk-a-thons (gettings money pledges for a certain amount of distance)
Lots of prayer

None of this is terribly original, but it has worked for people in the past. Good luck!

I think I will bring up the insurance thing and perhaps the rent-a-youth idea as well... but that one would be better during the summer though...

We are working on a local mission work thing... maybe we can monetary donations through that, but that would go towards our missions, not wyd...

At college we did a Fast-a-thon to get money to fix the roof. Basically you get a flat donation or donations by the hour and do a 24 hour fast. Someone actually pledged $100 an hour for Father to do it (he LOVES to eat).

And the best part....

the day before the fast started the Archdiocese agreed to pay for the new roof after two years of saying no. There was a bible verse that fit the situation perfectly, but I can't remember what it was. Something about fasting. It just goes to show that once your heart is in the right place, God will pull through.
