You have a regular prayer life, you don't miss Mass on Sundays, those of you who are CA's (most of you) have gone to lots of retreats, Steubenville Conferences, some of you have gone to WYD. It's just all so perfect.
hm...

but yet... if i do all these things... why do i feel unworthy? you have just helped save another life! stuff like that more than equals the retreats and conferences--where they TALK about doing stuff like that. you're actually DOING it. and THAT is why you are being praised. i've done all of the retreats, gone to Mass all the time... but i don't feel perfect. i've been feeling down all day... struck with the fact that i've got so much to deal with this year.

its the peeps like you on here that help me get through all of it! :D

Ash Wednesday

Another thing -- I know what it is like to feel the need to always be positive and the "strong" one. I grew up in a family of six with three older brothers and we were all raised to be very independant and "strong".

I'm the youngest in my family, and ironically when my mom died, I was the one that had to take over as "mom," and had the key role in keeping things together, since I was the only living female left. I was the iron-clad tank that got things done, and I'm the one that moved back home to help "take care" of things. And I know what it's like to be thrust into the "caretaker", "listener" and "rock" role for other people. It's an important role to have, but it's also like a tank, where you can run out of gas after giving, giving, and giving some more, without allowing ourselves to refill.

Sometimes we just have to let it all go and break down. We are human, not the perfect superheroes we feel we always have to be, after all. Give thanks to God when you have those moments when you can have that release and cry it all out. I know I do!

Most of all, remember that you are loved.

I can't believe John's friend would say what he said to you... you were the one who saved John, after all.

Anyway, you put your faith in God and he sent an army of angels to protect you in the face of danger. I admire you very much, Vera, and I am very proud of you. Thank you for your faith... it is truly inspiring.

-Mark

Wow, Vera. I don't know what to say.

I don't know how much this means coming from someone you don't know, but all I can do is sit here, shame-faced, and wish I could be as holy as you. Compared to you I'm a phoney catholic, talking the talk, but never walking the walk. I'll say God bless you, but after all you've been through, I'm sure he already has.

God bless you again,

Mr. Cube
Okay, let me break this down -

And you don't?

Vera, I don't think you would ever, ever miss Mass on purpose. I know tons of people that are at Mass every Sunday that are nowhere near as close to Christ as you. Just because you can't always get there doesn't mean that you are "unworthy" because some/most of us can... it's not the same.

So? This is the same way as above.

And we don't all think the same - and more - of you?

Who doesn't? We are all weak, Vera. And a joy it is to be weak! The weak cling to what is strong - the strong flesh thinks thinks not that it needs God. The strong soul is weak in flesh and makes a mess of things in its weakness - and it clings to what is strong, our Most Precious Lord. Rejoice in your mess; you will cling to Christ!

It's okay to feel uncomfortable with praise. It shows a lack of pride.

Amber you're soo

Wanna be my little sister? lol :D

I guess it's just a weird feeling of inferiority...

It's like people in youth group who feel they're superior and better persons than I am because they go to Catholic School, and even though you know it's not your fault, and it has nothing to do with it, you still feel it.

Anyway, I wub you all sooo much!!!

Statistically kids who graduate from Catholic schools are less likely to keep the faith IIRC even than kids who graduate from public schools.

God ain't gonna ask you what school you went to, when you come before his throne. :)

I sure hope not anyway, cause all I got is a G.E.D.

If God asks me what school I went to I would probly complain about it and not be surprised when he gets mad. LOL! I dislike my HS for purely social and acadmeic reasons. I don't dislike it for the kids (well kinda not really I don't like the typical teen stuff but they are no worse than the kids at Boylan Central as I gather).

I know my opinion as CGR's resident Calvinist doesn't bear much weight, but Vera, for the record, you are an incredibly brave young woman. Our sovereign Lord used you as His instrument in saving that kid's life. Alleluia! :D
And then I cried about myself. I cried about my unbelievable selfishness. I mean, I actually think it’s a cross to bear when my parents ground me for finding a catholic pamphlet in my school books, or when I have to wait till they’re asleep to get my rosary from under my mattress, or when they make fun of me for not wanting to miss Mass, when I try not to suffer when they are disappointed in me for chosing to be catholic. A cross? A CROSS?
1 Cor 1:18-31

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[3]
20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things -- and the things that are not -- to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."[4]

Your opinion means a lot Icthus. :D

Thanks Pham, you're all so supportive.

It was all because of your prayers.
