jp2_rules
Hey. Sorry I'm like a month late on this thread, but I just came across it, and had to reply. I am currently a freshman at Franciscan, and absolutely love it here. I have known many other people who have attended, including my sister(currently a junior). She has a completely different circle of friends and life on campus. We both have amazing experiences. FUS is often considered a theology school. While many attend for a theo education, we are a university with many majors. I am a comm. arts major. The academics are great, with dedicated professors and class sizes small enough that you are a name, not a number. However, the out of classroom life is what really makes the school special. The fellowship is incredible. Most of us share our Faith in common. There is a comfort level in that that my friends at more secular universities do not have. I have held conversations with friends about really deep topics, after knowing them for only 2 weeks. It's hard to describe, but I don't know how one can not experience it. I think ultimately it comes down to getting out of it what you put in. If you have a negative attitude, and don't get involved(not saying any of you did), you'll see the school differently. You'll notice only the blemishes, and not see the good. There are certainly people on campus who get drunk and do drugs. I wouldn't expect it either, but not everyone's here for the same/right reason(s). No matter where you go, there are people who mess up. However, you have to look to find it. I do not see the majority of students acting in a manner opposite what they claim. I think the reason it is noticeable though, is that we have an image of being perfectly holy individuals. If you were to walk around and ask students whether they were holy, they would probably tell you they were not. We are all seeking conversion of our hearts, to become holy men and women of God. I think that Franciscan offers a fantastic opportunity to do that. I'm not going to discuss Christendom or Ave Maria. I think that these schools all appeal to different people for different reasons, and ultimately it comes down to where you feel most comfortable, and think you'll get the best education. I would encourage all who looking at attending a Catholic school to visit them all. Spend a night there, attend classes, find out what student life is like. Talk to past and current students. Find out why they went, and what think. Even if you don't think a small Catholic school is for you, check it out. I almost went to a large(huge, actually)state school. I tried Franciscan and couldn't say no. Most importantly, pray about your decision, and God will guide you. The worst that will happen is that you'll decide it's not for you, and transfer elsewhere. God bless you all, Chris
LilMandaSprout
You missed a response: "I got in, but didn't have enough money to go there, so I'm now a sophomore at UNCO." ;-)

With God all things are possible. And the financial aid office helps a bit as well.
immaculata
I don't and didn't go there, I graduated from Christendom. My husband went to FUS for about a year and a half.
I might be flying out to visit Christendom in November!!!!!
immaculata
Theo-- where is Benedictian? I live in the midwest and would like to stay there. Christendom is a bit of a stretch for me. I'm seriously considering and applying to Univ. of Notre Dame. I was just talking to my Apologetics teacher today about FUS.. he's a recent graduate. He was REALLY encouraging me to go visit Stubie. He and our chaplain both graduated from there, and they're both really great guys. One of our other morality teachers, though, also went to FUS, and he turned out to be one of those wacky overly-charismatic people.. I guess it takes all types... There are people here who are very charismatic, and others who aren't. I'm not. But, I still love the university. If you decide to visit FUS, PM me. I'd love to meet up with you and say 'hi'!! Where are you from in the midwest, and what do you want to major in? God bless, Chris
immaculata
I'm from Illinois, and I plan to major in communications (possibly marketing or journalism) I visited ND and talked with several PM'ers who go/went there, and I really like it a lot. I think it fits me very well. I'm sure FUS is a great place, but I'm not sure how I'd fit in there, but I guess that's one of those things I'll have to go and experience for myself!
