littleflower+JMJ
did you have to break anything? just curious! hey second rounds for everyone!
Ash Wednesday
Thanks! Yes, I broke three boards with a front kick and two boards with a palm heel (hand strike). I think I've done four boards with a kick, last year when I got my taekwondo black belt. I thought that was what I did... oh well, why make it harder than what they ask you to do? My specialty involved rolling or falling into eight directions with breaking a board in each direction: front kick, hammer fist, back kick, palm heel, roundhouse kick, axe kick, ridgehand, side kick. So that makes a total of 13 boards broken yesterday. It's really not as hard as it looks, and doesn't involve superpowers. It's a matter of technique, and it is very very fun and empowering to do. If you do it right, you barely feel it. The board just feels like a feather floating off your hand. It's really wild! I have a first degree black belt in taekwondo, but I can say that I find hapkido to be much more challenging. Less kicking and punching and more throws, chokes, joint locks and pins. Hard work! My aunt and cousin came to watch. That really meant so much to me, since my mom isn't here. Afterwards she gave me a huge bouquet of flowers and I started crying... I felt like a figure skater. :haha:
