Crusader_4
I was just at the Americans Catholic Bishops site and they did not have a review up for "The Exorcist" yet.
ironman
It'll probably be Hollywood carp...the first Exorcist was made based on a true story.....the kid got into some crazy demonic stuff, they were Lutheran. Lutherans didn't really have any solutions to attack this problem, so they called on a Priest that could do exorcisms. Anyhow, the whole family ended converting to Catholicism, that's the real deal. I believe the name of the documentary is called "In the Presence of Evil" I haven't researched this whole thing much. All of the information I'm telling you, was told to me, by my friend. She's a very good source, maybe I got some of the names wrong on what the documentary is called, but that's the just of the story.
Paladin D
Question: Didn't the Catholic priest successfully perform an exorcism? Because I heard that the devil tricked him into thinking he did, and reappears in the 2nd because of it. Not sure how true this is, that's why I'm asking. DemonSlayer
If it doesn't have any traces of anti-Catholicism, I'll consider watching it. Edited August 25, 2004 by DemonSlayer
BeenaBobba
If anyone's interested in reading the USCCB's review of this movie, you can do so here. As for me, I doubt I'll see this movie in the theaters. I might rent it when it comes out on video though. From what I've read, it looks sort of lame. I doubt it even holds a candle to the original, which is by far the scariest movie ever made. I hear there's a lot of "cheap thrills" in The Beginning, which doesn't surprise me, considering that most horror movies these days (apart from many of M. Night Shyamalan's brilliant works) are cheesy flicks with little substance; ergo, they rely on gore and "cheap thrills" to lure audiences. Very rarely do you see a horror film devle so deeply into theological issues as does The Exorcist (the first one). God bless, Jennifer
