Counseling is a wonderful thing.

Everyone should have counseling at least once in their lives, even if they don't have any big issues. It's a really good way to be able to vent and talk about things you can't otherwise tell other people. I think everyone can benefit from it.

Then again, I'm a counselor (for kids), so I could be biased.

do you love your job? what a wonderful way to help kids. of course, it must be pretty hard, too, sometimes; because of the stuff that kids go through.

My parents forced me to go after the divorced and it didn't work out too well... I'll admit that I was only there to get out and not really for my well being. I have thought about going back since then, but since I still live at home I don't want to. I may start going to something when I move out, but it's still sketchy... I really don't like counselors, but most of that is because I was forced to go. The first step is not to go to counseling it is to admit to yourself there is a problem, I had not done that.

I absolutely love my job. I work with "special" kids. They have all different kinds of problems, so it's hard to define the exact population that I work with. Some are emotional issues, while some have developmental or physical issues. Alot of the kids don't know how to express what they're feeling due to whatever their problems are and can really act out. Counseling them can really help make a difference. It's amazing what a difference you will see in some kids who have a counseling session once a week. It's not an easy job because some kids have such a hard time expressing themselves, but it is incredibly rewarding. My only problem is that I get so attached to the kids. I  them all.

Once I finish my masters, I'll be labeled a school psychologist. That's the job I'm doing but without the masters yet, I don't have the title. That should be within a year.

The summer is slow because alot of the kids don't go to school all year round, so I've only got a handful of counseling sessions a day. That's why I can be on the computer here so much. :)

I really do love my job and I'm a huge supporter of occasional counseling for everyone!

I was in therapy a little over 2 years ago because of depression, anxiety, being suicidal, and self- injury. I may not be here, had it not been for my therapist. She was Catholic, I found out after I started going. She was wonderful and I would reccomend her to anyone in my neck of the woods, as she helped me a lot.

BTW- I JUST got off my Zoloft about 2 weeks ago...GTC is a happy kid now who doesn't need happy pills!

i had to go to a counselor for many years and all of mine were terrible. the last one i went to was finally catholic and i thought i might finally get used to her but my parents didnt like her opinion so they pulled me. i think if you get the right person it is very helpful.

ive gotten a lot of nut cases.

i wish i still had therapy though so i guess its helped.
