mikey, how is a single piercing of the ears cultural, but not tattoos? that statement of yours doesn't make sense.

Just as the tattoos on the africans is part of their culture. As I said, I wish ear peircing is something I dissaprove of. I guess the only reason I said it was cultural is because I assumed it has been part of European culture and passed down. I possibly could be wrong, and if so, then ear peircings are wrong, as well.

Tattoo's only basis in the states and European countries is the culture of death's rebellion against order and the beauty of nature for disorder and the love of the man made unnatural dispositions and ways of life.

God bless,

Mikey

i'm not trying to bash you, i'm just saying to use a different argument, because that one (at least the way you've presented it) doesn't make sense.

It is still a culture, but we have to test the values of a culture. Your right however, I am wrong, ear peircing is wrong as well. I am sorry I had to comprimise my values to accept a culture (ie. I held improper beliefs, that went along the thinking of, if everyone does it, it is right). Thank you Lil Red for pointing out my error. Now that I think of it, both use a certain method to try to improve/enhance the body. I'll be more careful in not making those mistakes. Please feel free to correct me when I'm in error, I'm here to learn as well.

God bless,

Mikey

Anything beyond hygiene is vain. Please remember we can straighten our hair, as it make it orderly. We can take a bath everyday, so we don't smell offensive. We can do a number of things that will help us look presentable.

Some of the saints even rejeceted that. St. Francis when he took on the role of a beggar, had no access to bathing or a change of clothes, or a comb, or a razor, or any soap.

Topic at hand : Tattoos. Anyone want to tell me self-mutiliation (by consent) is cool to acheive an end, please do.

God bless,

Mikey

Since this isn't apotheouns field, I'm sure he won't say much on it. However, I'd like to know his view. If he is for tattoos, he's bound to make a good case. However, I still don't think you can justify consenting to self-mutiliation.

God bless,

Mikey

You indeed chose yes. There have been no recent votes for "no". Again, if you are willing to destroy a part of your body for the greater glory of a tattoo and representation of your personal beliefs through a tattoo, do so. However, I do believe we were given our bodies for the greater glory of God. Maybe I was taught incorrectly. You maybe able to point out how I am wrong, or you could possibly show me where our will overrides wrong or right.

This is not sarcastic. This is the only reasonable response I can give to your post.

God bless,

Mikey

Mikey, if I offended you, I'm sorry. But your argument doesn't hold up (the way it is presented), and I was trying, nicely, to point it out. Please don't take offense. Maybe if you defined your argument more clearly, then I would understand.

God bless.

I didn't take offense. As a matter of fact, I was very glad you corrected me. If I am to hold up my arguement, and stick to it like I should, I could not possibly accept ear peircing. So, I thought it over, and realized that I cannot accept a double truth, nor can I accept any type of harm to the body for the sake of beauty and/or representation of views by destroying what we cannot perfect or correct. You are very right, don't think I am offended, but indeed, grateful.

God bless,

Mikey

Seems to be what he thinks.

Oh, and Ice, we'd better go straighten our curly hair to make it orderly, but we'd better stop there!

MichaelFilo, I think the argument is ridiculous being as the Church DOES NOT condemn tattoos. I'll say again (for the 3rd time) you do not know better than the Church. Interesting how you condemn something that the Church does not. If that's your personal feeling, then fine, but don't make it like the Church is saying it's wrong. If it was considered mutilation, then the Church would say it's not ok, but this is not the case.

God Bless
