theculturewarrior
Someone very dear to me had an abortion. It was before I was Christian, and I actually thought it was a good idea and kind of encouraged her to do it. I learned later that she was going to name the baby after me. CreepyCrawler
i'm glad that the one lady had the "and i regret it" on there. it's definitely not something planned parenthood would want people to wear and it lets people know that abortion is something regrettable. Ash Wednesday
That's a really *really* powerful story. I'm really glad you shared this with us. Share it with the world how God works in our lives!!!
Ash Wednesday
(the older woman's purse had a PP sticker...there's something called overdoing it  ).
Often the biggest advocates of abortion and the "right to choose" are women who have had one and choose activism to drown out their uneasy consciences. Pray for each and every one of these women, especially everyone associated with THIS website, in case you haven't seen it: http://www.imnotsorry.net/
VeraMaria
That website made me really sad. And kind of sick.
Ash Wednesday
Very sad. A lot of them were the result of irresponsible sex. "I was stupid about birth control" or "I slept with a man I only knew for a month" and "it was failed birth control" and ended with "I have a wonderful life now, a good job, a college career" and "I wouldn't have all the things I have" or "I wouldn't have all the opportunities I have" (now that that pesky baby is out of the way! Because it's all about me! Me! ME!) "I'm not sorry!"
VeraMaria
Yeah, I've been looking around that site... The longer some of them supress feelings about it by surrounding themselves by other things and telling themselves how good a choice it was, the harder it will hit them later. I'm talking about some post-abortive women. My parish has a Project Rachel retreat every few months and once it coincided with a youth retreat so some of the women told us their stories. It left a great impression on me because these were young women, some of them, telling us how it had hurt them, and some older ones who told of supressing any feeling and how it made it worse because it ended building up and tearing loose.
