ryanmeyersmusic
if i talk to my friends about the st. louis cardinals, does that make me less of a Catholic and more of a baseball fan? if i read an article about songwriting does that make me less of a Catholic and more of a musician? if i write a song about marriage, does that make me less of a Catholic and more of a husband? Our faith encompasses all that we are, and through it we are more fully alive. Songwriters, Catholic or otherwise, write to express who they are as best they can. Our faith overshadows everything, whether conspicuously or not.
musturde
Every one of Righteous B's songs brings out his belief that you can be a dedicated Catholic but also have fun. Its obvious he's mentioning Catholic lifestyle very well in tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15. The lyrics arent bad on "Flurry" and "Rock ur soul" (or whateva the name is) but instead their just for fun, like Kielbasa Posse. Track one and 16 are just the intro and epiloge. musturde
The new cd was a lil different, his old cd was full throttle Catholic but that was also old school. This new cd is new school and he still writing his lyrics in a Catholic form, but it's more of a play round cd, possibly just to test this different style of rap. exploring
I have to chime in here, because I think The Capitol B is one of the strongest rappers in the Catholic community right now. His new album is superb! Hard to find Catholic lyrics? How about on "Like An Escalade" where he sings "Righteous got it made like an escalade chrome, 24s with the spinners, neon lights in the dome, ain't got a need for that jazz, but yo I'm shocking the fans when I'm rollin up the shows in dodge caravan...I need that minivan space yo for my wife and 3 babies, see I didn't contracept nothin, in fact my middle name's "open", and I'll be open to children, yeah 10 or 12 we'll be hopin'." It doesn't get anymore Catholic than that! Kielbasa Posse is slammin'! It's about time us Poles get some props! And oh yeah, "we got the JPII!" Have you noticed that Catholic music might be behind the grand scheme of the Christian music industry because Catholic artists tend to sing and rap only about the Catholic faith? Why do people belive someone is not a Catholic artist because he doesn't rap about the Eucharist? Can't someone have secular sounding songs that are true to the Catholic Faith and be considered a Catholic artist? Righteous B does this and it's about time! Hopefully more artists will take a cue from this and put Catholic music on the map! Support your Catholic music artist!
