Paladin D
Now, also, I am seeing a disturbing double standard. Why can men flaunt what they have, and we have to wear those crazy bathingsuits that someone posted a while ago? The ones that look like burlap sacks? Come on people...be fair. If women have to cover up, so do men. Men do not deserve more freedom than women when it comes to dress. Just as the male body is a wondeful creation, a womans body is just as beautiful. Dont treat women as evil temptress', I know I'm not...
I don't put a double standard, both genders should practice modesty. I don't have a problem with bikinis to be honest, just as long as they aren't super tiny or see-through.
VeraMaria
I don't wear bikinis because I like the way I look and want to show off my body. I wear them because they're comfortable, and I can manuever in one. Most people wear bikinis to show off, but not all. And it's not like I walk around with just my bikini on, either. I usually put on a tank top over it (the bottoms are boy-shorts anyway). I just think it's a slight over-generalization to state that anyone wearing a bikini is purposefully showing off their body.
Exactly what I was going to say. I don't want to show off my body, but it's just the most comfortable thing to wear here to the beach or pool, and it's just very hard to get one-pieces over here in Miami, unless I want to wear the one I use for swimming tournaments...(who wants to go to the beach wearing a green monster with the huge school logo )
VeraMaria
I agree. I live in Florida, it's nothing to see shirtless guys and women in bikinis since I live so close to the beach. I don't even pay attention to it.
Same here. Where in Florida do you live? I live in Miami and it's all people WEAR, anywhere. You get used to it. But sometimes it's obvious when people are trying to show off their bodies. I have friends who go ANYWHERE in bikinis during the summer...ridiculous, because some places are quite cold It's hard to cover up when it's this hot. It's madness. You have to see a South Florida Summer. Shorts and tank tops are what we live in. But use common sense as to what is immodest.
let_go_let_God
Modesty is in the eye of the beholder and of society. I mean take my prom dress for example. I was essentally covered except for my arms and my shoulders and face, but some people asked why I didn't opt for a lower cut dress that showed a lil more, to turn the guys heads? I told them what's the point? I came with a good friend of mine, also I am not an object to be oogled, and I don't want to make guys jaws drop. That's not who I am. Then I rejoined my friends and they didn't give me any flack about my dress for the rest of the night. In fact they started borrowing their dates suit jackets to wear. Archaeology cat
Same here. Where in Florida do you live? If I go to a grocery that's closer to the beach, I'm likely to see someone in a bikini top. And you're right, you can tell the difference between people just trying to stay cool and actually trying to flaunt themselves. It's just different in Florida I guess I mean, until you've worked outside in 115 degree heat, digging 20 holes a day (contract archaeology) I don't listen a lot to other people telling me I can't wear as little as possible while still maintaining my modesty. Yes, I had to be fully covered out the in the field, and everyone became delirious, so it was quite dangerous somedays. Oh well, just my rant
Archaeology cat
I don't think any woman should mow the lawn. o.o;;;; I've never done it, and I never will. >_> I think that's something hubby should do. >_> When I'm married, I'll clean the house, wash clothes, and take care of my babies, but hubby can go to work, fix the yard (unless it's gardening), and help me with the kiddies.
What's wrong with a woman mowing the lawn? It's not my favorite task, but if my (future) husband were too busy, I'd do it. I probably like working outside a lot more than my boyfriend does, so it would probably make sense for me to mow And he's better help clean the house & wash the clothes j/k
my husband and I share the same responsibities. Sometimes we need to leave each other notes cause the house would have been vaccumed twice in 1 day. I love to do some yard work. Specially mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Exercise is good for me. It's just me. I like to keep my mind going so I do a lot. But again, we share the responsibilities. Sometimes I fight with him when it comes to washing dishes. I like washing dishes too. I guess you can say that I like to do a lot of things. Gotta Love Me! BeenaBobba
Shirtless guys don't really bother me much. They're not usually occassions of sin for me, but they might be for other girls. God bless, Jen
franciscanheart
I liked the way Dave put it. Be modest in all cases. Whether you are attractive and causing occasion to sin, or less attractive and freaking people out. Everyone needs a reason.
