John Kerry In Vietnam
War is ugly. There were plenty of people burning down innocent people's homes and killing their livestock in the Vietnam War, not just John Kerry. In wars people kill. This is a non-issue, unless you propose that veterans are unfit for public office.

His 100% pro-abort voting record is the issue I'm concerned with.
I know that.

But don't you get it?

little john is attacking those that did... things he claimed that were happening, he never saw.

Believe it or not, personal life, integrity, honor, ALL matter in a presidential election. If a man can't be honest or keep his own house in order, he has no buisness trying to run a country.
from the CCC.

2477
Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury.278 He becomes guilty:

of rash judgment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;

of detraction who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another's faults and failings to persons who did not know them;279

of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them.

I agree, but it's clear Kerry is pushing for this 'War Hero' tag as his master status, and he will use and abuse this tag to win support in the election. I don't find it necessary to attack him directly, but considering the facts regarding his service in Vietnam, people will make judgements about his character, and are entitled to. In any case, he is a Vietnam veteran, and that shouldn't be taken away from him. How he uses it and how people judge him by it is up to him though.

Hmmmm. A shady politician? Go figure. Am I going to vote for Pres. Bush? Probably. Am I going to do it because I think he's an all around great guy? No, I've never met him, and furthermore, unlike God, I can't see into people's hearts. Am I going to vote against Kerry because I think he's a slimeball? I operate on the assumption that all politicians are slimeballs. Why would I be shocked to find out Kerry's one?

Ash Wednesday

What bugs me about Kerry's Vietnam schtick is how he protested the war, calling it the "biggest nothing in history," proceeded to throw others' war medals in the trash during a protest, except his own because "he didn't happen to have them with him that day" yet years later is more than happy to tout his service in Vietnam like a polished trophy on his mantle.

THAT hypocrisy and lack of integrity is what bothers me. He's a veteran, but he's also a typical politican. A lot of his fellow vets see right through his "makeover" and will not be voting for him.

FYI, I am unable to serve in the Armed Forces due to a medical condition.

While I don't agree with Kerry's defence of abortion, I'd like to point out that Bush never served in Vietnam at all. In fact, Bush went AWOL...[actually, technically he 'deserted' because he was absent without leave for a period in excess of 30 days.]

I know a lot of you are going to vote for Bush because of his stance on abortion, and I respect that. Just please don't attack John Kerry when Bush has done worse things in the same context.LINK
