Interesting Experience On The Plane From Dallas

Maybe some of you saw that I (finally!!!) completed the questionaire in the Catholic Apologetics while I was in the airport in Dallas (talk about addiction!!)

Well, our flight was called and we barely made it. The plane was huge becausae Miami is a really busy airport and has lots of connections. It was also packed. They had to separate me and my family because they couldn't find 5 seats together. The flight attendant told us she could find 2 pairs of 2 seats, and then one alone. I said I'd take the one alone so that my brothers could sit together and my parents could sit together.

I sat down next to the window and soon this lady came up, asked if that was row 23, I said yes, she sat down. A couple of hours later (we must have been over Georgia or Alabama or something...) I was watching a thunderstorm in the clouds under us (kinda scary but really cool!) when I saw her pull out a book. I glanced at it and was amazed when I saw it was "Rome Sweet Home" by the Hahns (Scott and Kimberly). I mean I've never met anyone who read it before. She had a writing pad and was writing down what seemed to be bible verses (like Matthew 16:17). Her copy was heavily highlighted and had lots of post-its.

So I glanced around to make sure my parents were out of earshot and pointed to the cover, smiled and said I had read it and that it's a good book. She looked up really slowly, had this sour look on her face, and said coldly that her brother and sister had decided to convert, and partly because of the "insights" they got in that book. She said she was studying it to point out the "errors" and "holes" in it.

Needless to say we didn't speak much the rest of the trip, except she looked like she had swallowed a sour pickle when we got into turbulence and I (discreetly, lol, my parents can't see it) pulled out my rosary and silently started saying it (I sereiously thought the plane was close to crashing). She didn't say a word except could I please pull down the window shade, the light was giving her a headache. And could I please not order soda, the smell made her dizzy. And could I please not look her way at the aisle, it made her nervous.

It didn't help that her teenage son in front of me kept smiling at me and trying to make conversation until she told him to face the front and be quiet. And when I said "Water, please" when the flight attendant asked what I wanted to drink she spent the next 5 minutes mimicking the way I said it (I just can't seem to say it the American Way). Then we were stuck for two hours circling above the airport because of heavy clouds.

Some unpleasant people you meet on these flights...

But the trip in Canada was beautiful...I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I guess I'm trying to say "I'm glad to be back, I missed you all!"

Anyone miss me? :P

So, what's been happening around here? :D

VERA!

Welcome Back!

That's an interesting story.

It's too bad your parents were with you. I'm sure you could have shown her so much truth.

God has His plans. I'm sure something is going on in her heart.

awww...sorry Zach!! But I thought about you!! Looking at the little map that shows which state we're flying over I kept thinking of different PMers "I'm flying right over where ____ lives!"

PMers are so spread out, it's crazy!
