I think it's just a sad thing. Video games are just a diversion anyway, and yet they have morally questionable material in them. It's just sad that a diversion can lead to problems like in this case. Come to think about it, has the Pope ever addressed the subject of video games?
It also depends upon the person. Again, I agree that certain games personally shouldn't have been made. But my argument is that not everyone who plays voilent video games goes on a "manhunt" so to say.

Once in a while this unfortunately happens, but I'm a gamer and I don't want to kill anyone. Yet at times when I get frusterated with school, I want to rip someones head off (figure of speak), does this mean school should be banned?
I agree that certain games shouldn't have been made in the first place, considering it's offensive to my faith. However, these games have ratings for a reason, and they're on every game that is sold in stores! The problem is, the store clercs not asking for ID if a minor is purchasing a Rated M game, and the parents not keeping track of what their kids are buying and playing.
i agree ,parents should check the ratings and the clercs should also ,the problem is that people just accept it as normal when a kid buys a m or parental advisory rated product ,they dont think twice when they scan the item .

I don't believe that games directly cause violence, and I don't think that it was all the games fault for the kid killing someone. I play video games(very seldomly) but I am not a violent person. I was just stating that video games were meant to be a diversion, and they could have possibly influenced this kid in the wrong way. They might have, or they might have not, but the idea that in our world the sheer thought of video games possibly having the potential to make people more violent scares me.

I'm not saying video games are bad, but stuff like this when it happens just makes you think. It just makes me curious about what JPII would say about video games. Also I wonder if we choose to live lifes of Catholic Orthodoxy, should the Orthodox Catholic play video games? Just as a question. I don't know, what do you guys think?

i dont think orthodox catholics should play extremely violent or sexually orientated games ,like the gta series ,it is extremely sinful and wrong in every way.

Yes, and on top of that it IS the video game publishers duty not to publish such a game- I'm not saying it is illegal and that they don't have a right to, I"m saying it is immoral, unethical, and gravely sinful. They do hold some responsibility.

GTA is pretty much garbage, of course the game mechanics (able to go around cities, explore, and do practically anything without any solid objective), is awesome. But I wouldn't play that game.

me neither ,the only reason being that it is bery sinful !!!!! its cool and all to roam around ,now ,if gta were about living a daily life in a city ,and going wherever you wanted and owning a house ,and going to work ,and buying and driving a car etc.than yes it would be fun ,but its full of sin and evil ,and i would rather die than even own a free copy of that game!!!!
Sounds like a most unusually sick video game.
It is a pretty sick game, take it from a person who's played it before.

But as far as this game responsble for that murder........ I dunno, I never met the Suspect, Victim or parents of the Victim I dont know their attentions, I didn't know what their hearts were like, so I can't make a absolute clear comment. Most of what I can say is of this matter it really depends on the people and their infleuances around them.

It really depends on their motives, where your heart is during this activity of so called entertianment.

Because I play alot of Volient Video Games and I know Other People out there who do the same, and they never wanted to kill anyone, like from the videos they "we" play, thats just wrong and crazy.

It really depends on the person like I said.

Everyone who blames the video games and the videio game industry needs to get a freaking cat scan. The fault is the parent for letting a child play M-Rated games.

PS-Manhunt is not that great of a game anyway.

It makes me feel a little uneasy being in London about 3-4 weeks ago.

And ILC even sports games are turning immoral. I saw a news story on the new NBA game *NBA Jams I think it was* Well for the points you get, you get credits in which you can buy your crib, different chars, your ride, and women that are essentally prostitutes.

Eh, idiots just shouldn't be aloud to play video games. You outta have to take a test to see if you're mature enough to handle the game so one won't go out and murder a bunch of people. lol
