Try a web search using the words Dominicans, Franciscans, Immaculate Conception and see what comes up.

God bless :peace:
wait a minute, there was debate in Luther's time between the Dominicans and Franciscans about the immaculate conception? What's that all about?
I'm not sure what it was about, but the dogma wasn't defined until 1854. So it was a perfectly legit debate.

I met a women in an evangelical church once who through dialogue with a Catholic friend came to understand the Catholic view of Mary and she was inspired to pray the rosary. I thought it was strange (but cool) at the time, but have never met other protestants (evangelicals) who feel the same way. Good job to her Catholic friend!

In my Assemblies of God church one year at Christmas, our pastor preached a whole sermon on Mary's obedience to God (in the face of overwhelming circumstances, like the Virgin Birth--would anyone believe her?) and how we should take it as an example. :)

Also, since the concept of her unbelievable obedience was something I already understood as a non-Catholic, it has helped me understand many of the Catholic teachings about Mary.
