Roman Catholicism by Boettner belongs on every Catholic apologetic students bookshelf. For those of us who are in the business of debating the Fundamentalist wing of evangelical protestantism, this book has been the source book for anti-Catholics. Read it, know it well, and understand where, how, and why the authors conclusions are wrong.

Qoute from a review:

My name is Scott D. Berner, I am a Baptist minister and have studied the Roman Catholic Church for many years. Dr. Boettner's book is an EXCELLENT reference work and highly educational. I value it highly as part of my personaly library and refer to it's documentation regularly in sermons and radio broadcasts. It is a work of Truth.

anti-catholic writing makes me sad :( it just doesn't make any sense. On one page you read about how the Church is drastically flawed because it rips the spirit from its followers, making them submissive, unthinking, and apathetic, then on the next page you read about how the Church is drastically flawed because it instills in people a firebrand zealousy that leads them to fight bloody crusades....*sigh*....

Someone should make an exact point by point refutation of this book and call it "Latin Rite Catholicism." I'm not a huge fan of the Roman Catholic term.

Also, read up on Jack Chick pamphlets for a very extremists point of view. The Eucharist: The Death Cookie. Complete with colorful cartoon.

Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating is a direct refeutation of this book. Keating goes point by point refuting the falsities...

It's the book that prompted me to build phatmass.

BINGO. I'm reading his book for the first time now too. Excellent work, though not as in depth as The Gospel According to McCarthy since the author only spends a chapter on the book
