geetarplayer
I want to go there too... my mom is a little doubtful though... It's private and out-of-state, so it will cost up the wazoo. In which case I may end up going to Ave Maria. -Mark
MagiDragon
one word of caution: I went to a Catholic high school, and was very good friends with the salutatorian in my class. she is a very good person and Catholic, she had incredible extracurriculars, and she was a national merit semifinalist. (scored well on the PSAT) she *didn't* get into Notre Dame. she had a letter of recomendation from the Bishop too! Peace, Joe
immaculata
That's what I'm worried about.. I'm terrified I won't get accepted. I'm even thinking about having Bishop Jenky write a letter, too! He used to be chaplain there..

GodsThespianChic
I went to Notre Dame late June/early July because of the Life Teen Notre Dame Leadership conference, and I fell in love with ND too!! I wanna go so bad....and I really don't think I will get in (I have a 4.18 GPA, 1300 SAT score, and I'm like 47/547 rank in class), but I am applying anyway...just so that if I do get in, I can say that I got in...because even if I did get accepted, there's no way short of a miracle that I could pay for it...I would be in debt for the rest of my life...and then some... GodsThespianChic
The campus is best at night. I've gotten to walk around twice at night there. Once at my brother's orientation, and the other before his graduation. Walking around there made me want to go there. And trying to get there has affected many of the decisions in my life I've made since. In a way, ND brought me to Phatmass.
I LOVE the Grotto at night. It was my favorite place on campus. I love it.

MagiDragon
Student loans are quite reasonable, I hear.. and I plan on filing for the FAFSA and the CSS, not to mention getting a job on campus.. I think if I work hard enough, I can pull it off. (With a little help from Mom, of course!)
student loans are extremely reasonable, but do be cautious: the point in college is to come out financially on top. You don't want to be in debt so bad that it takes the next 5-10 years of your life to dig yourself out. I chose to go to IPFW (The local indiana university/purdue university campus) because i would have the support of living at home, and be able to work throughout the year. This was in spite of the fact that i had full rides to several large universities. (Oklahoma state, Arizona state, Tex. A&M) I'm going to graduate college in about a year and a half, but when i do, i will have 0 debt. I will actually graduate with several thousand dollars in the bank. (I think i'm at about $7000 right now, but i've got a job now that's increasing my cashflow.) My goal is to be able to buy a car, and put a downpayment on a small house when i graduate college. If you can graduate with money in the bank, it's kindof like a free coupon that says "half off all stress in the first years of your marriage." That's a major plus. That said, i don't have any official candidates right now for that role . . . still lookin' Peace, Joe

Mickey's_Girl
PS: i've said it before, but the FWSB diocese has a really good Bishop too! (not that you really needed more encouragement to go to Notre Dame . . .)
WORD UP! (He's my bishop, and I'm all proud. Or--I should probably say GRATEFUL! Woo-hoo Bishop D'Arcy!) Immaculata: don't worry about it. Just pray. People get into schools all the time when the "numbers" say they shouldn't. If God wants you there, you will go there. A word about college debt: I'm several years out of private Christian college, and am still paying off loans. I went to grad school solely on loans. Loans are a bummer, but I don't regret a penny of them. My education was worth it. I wouldn't trade any amount of income in the last few years for the value I got out of my experience. Plus, school loans are very reasonable, and there are many methods of repayment. I'll be paying them off for a long time, but there are things more important than money. Each person must decide what is important to them, and both graduating with no debt and graduating with debt can be good decisions. The truth is, the cost of education these days makes it very, very difficult to graduate completely debt-free...and people going to law or med school simply HAVE to take on loans unless they're independently wealthy. Thing long and hard, pray for guidance, but don't be afraid to take the plunge if you feel good about it. picchick--I'm SO THERE WITH YOU! ND football RULES! And the band is cool, too.
