theculturewarrior
Someone posted a pray in the open mic in which the petitioner commanded the unclean spirits to depart into the pit. Is it okay for laity to command evil spirits or should we leave that to clergy? Thanks and God bless, TCW.
Pontifex
It is certainly okay for a Christian to pray for evil to be gone. It is okay to ask for protection from evil for Jesus to cast away anything that is an obstacle to our relationship with God. However, one must be careful that they do not attempt formal exorcims or let this demon-hunt become a precoccupation. Demons and the like should not be our focus. They are a distraction and should be prayed against and then leave the rest to Jesus. Each diocese has a named exorcist who handles all formal cases of demonic activity. Leave it to that guy. Many blessings, Fr. Burns aka Pontifex
