theculturewarrior
I heard somewhere that when praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, you meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries, but I couldn't find any documentation of this online. In fact, I couldn't find any mention of meditating on mysteries at all, not on the EWTN mini-site, or at Marian.org. Can you help me? God bless you and this fine apostolate. Pontifex
To my knowledge, I do not think that there is a set meditation for the chaplet, except as the name describes, the Mercy of God. The passion of Christ, those sorrowful mysteries are a wonderful place to let your heart and spirit reside as you pray the chaplet. It is the place where mercy, that remedy for evil was won for us all. But I would not say that your meditation needs to be limited to that. In a ancient litany of praises for Jesus, one of the invocations is "Mercy of God", declaring that Jesus is not just merciful but that He is Mercy incarnate. Therefore to think about any aspect of the life of Jesus will lead you into deeper contemplation of Mercy. I love the chaplet and I think it is an essential way to deepen one's understanding of the nature of God, how we constantly receive His Mercy, and therefore can give it freely to those around us.
