XIX
Hello, question number two. I was wondering if it is valid to pray that God would actually go into the past and intercede on another person's behalf? For example, would it be valid if I were to pray for the salvation of somebody who died last week, even though that person's fate is already determined? (I'm not talking about praying for those in purgatory.) I was thinking that maybe since God lives outside of time, He might be able to answer our prayers ahead of time. Is my premise flawed? Pio Nono
JMJ 8/3 - Eighteenth Tuesday XIX, Since God exists outside of time, praying for things in the past which are unknown to the pray-er is not out of the question. Say a friend of mine flies into town and I don't know his flight time; it is entirely legitimate for me to pray for his safety until I know that he has landed safely, even if he landed hours prior to my prayer. However, if I already know he's landed safely, my prayers are somewhat pointless. I hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
