Madonna
What clothing do you think is immodest for men and women? And not only clothing, but the way they are wearing it. As a women, I think it's important to hear especially what men think is immodest. Us women could think something perfectly harmless, while the guys are going:
lanie
hhhmm... yes this is a topic I've seen discussed quite a few times in various places... my impression of modesty is not necessarily the way I dress though. I'll reply later with my thoughts on modesty when I have some more time. However just thought I'd reply as no one else has yet.
Madonna
You're right. I think most important is manner too. We'll throw that in there. So, what do you think is immodest in manner (attitudes around the opposite sex), dress, and the way you carry yourself? Moosey
Okie dokie then. To me immodesty is tight fitting clothes, high shorts or skirts, anything see through, and anything that shows the midriff.
Mrs. Bro. Adam
Here's a question to ask yourself when trying to figure out if something is modest or not: Would either of my parents let me walk out the door wearing it? If the answer is no, then it's not modest. Look in the mirror and ask yourself: What thoughts will this provoke in the opposite sex's mind? If the answer is that of lust or other sinful manners, then it's immodest.
Moosey
I say leave more to the imagination, it makes you more beautiful.
Mrs. Bro. Adam
Also: Thongs aren't neccessarily immodest, as long as they're hidden under other clothing. And I think the married individuals have a leg up, because all they really need to do is to ask their spouse.
Madonna
Here's a question to ask yourself when trying to figure out if something is modest or not: Would either of my parents let me walk out the door wearing it? If the answer is no, then it's not modest. Look in the mirror and ask yourself: What thoughts will this provoke in the opposite sex's mind? If the answer is that of lust or other sinful manners, then it's immodest.
I try to think of those things. But sometimes, I just don't know how men think. Some things I think are perfectly harmless, and then my brothers or a guy friend will make a comment about another girl, or admit what kind of things "turn them on". I'm trying hard to find more modest clothes that still make me feel feminine and are somewhat fashionable. And comfortable. That is a rare combination. Also, a question no one has answered is manner. How should women act around men to be sisterly instead of a seductress, even if it is without intent? I want to be beautiful, pure and holy person for whomever my husband is going to be. That alone makes me want to be a better person. I think e5 women is getting to me.
Moosey
Yep. I cant stand it when girls pull up their thongs so they show.
crusader1234
Just a thought... girls can wear thongs... just make sure they aren't showing to anybody aside from your husband. I think 99 percent of modesty is attitude. Girls can wear short skirts and tank tops and come across modestly (not so common), and at the same time girls can wear pants and a sweater and come across immodestly (suprisingly common). You can tell when you look immodest. I don't know what us guys really do to be immodest... The only thing I can think of is dirty old men wearing banana hammocks. Moosey
Well wearing the skmipy clothes is the number one thing that makes you immodest so if someone was to where short skirts and tank tops that show too much it makes her immodest right away.
