How are you supposed to SWIM in that get-up.?
It will go over really well with the competitive swimmers and divers :D
It will be wonderful on a surfboard.

I'll wear one as long as the men wear EXACTLY the same thing. No I don't want to see mens legs - too hairy- so men will have to cover up down to their ankles.

Catholicguy....

I'm a man. I'm not sinning by saying those are ugly.

In fact, neither are the women.

Those bathing suits are OBJECTIVELY UGLY. No one is denoting ugliness in relation to desire to wear them for modesty (I think most agree that it is important to be modest, especially in swimwear.)

PSPX,
I apologize. I did not realize that they were speaking specifically of those designs, but my point was that if the only feasible design is ugly then the only options are 1) wear the ugly design or 2) do not swim. God bless.

I think an issue of modesty is around whom you appear in your swimwear. Many people now go to beaches just to look at the bodies on the beach. You can go to a private pool and hang out with good Christian friends and wear one-pieces and you're not being immodest. A huge problem is that society has taught people to get excited around naked or nearly naked flesh, especially in a swimming environment.

Two people can be wearing exactly the same clothes and one person can look very modest while the other looks immodest. It's all about the attitude and expression individuals have in presenting themselves.

Modesty is subjective. I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing normal bathing suits as long as they cover up all the right parts. Common sense goes a long way.

I agree in principle, but I don't think the only feasible design must be ugly.

We would have to clarify what we mean when we say "subjective" and "right parts".

In Love and Responsibility Karol Wojtyla, use of common sense is exhonerated with regrad to this issue. Basically what the would be then future Pope writes is that swim wear is good for swimming, but one should not wear it walking around.

I do not have the book with me, I loaned to a friend, but I believe it to be on page 192.

This I vehemently disagree with.

Are you admitting that there is objective ugliness? Oh, how I could have used you in earlier denates. :D

By the way, I agree. They are quite frumpy.

I swam just fine fully clothed (long pants, boots, helmet, rifle, flack jacket, and pack) in the Marines. If people can swin in that condition without issue then people can swim in the clothing advertised on the link.

I already said that I'm sure it was not designed for competition use.

Quite honestly I have no problem when the girls I know just wear shorts and a shirt over their bikinis. To me that's perfectly modest, and it doesn't have to cost too much, either! ^_^
