Have You Invited A Priest Over For Dinner?

Its the opposite in europe. Priests are seen as gods [not literally, for prots on here, its a analogy], and everyone fights over who sees them the most, and dines with them, its kinda like some commoner trying to get into a Celebrity A-List party.

I don't know what it is like in most places... although, because of the amount I travel over the summer, I've visited a ridiculous number of parishes, I'm only really familiar with my own.

With the people I know, it's much the same in that there is an enormous amount of respect for priests. The thing is, it's a sort of respect that leads to the notion that any contact with a priest for a purpose not relating to a sacrament is seen as a horrible waste of that priest's time. Or worse, the usual gossip starts up about highly inappropriate situations(which is both funny, as in strange funny, and sad, since the priests at my parish are intensely orthodox).

I know a lot of priests who don't like to ride in cars alone with a woman. It is about lending scandal. Even though it is always perfectly innocent, it might not appear so and might give people cause to doubt them. I know it's lousy, but then again, that's just life. None of the priests I know mind at all. And the people that they would drive with always understand.

But not only have I invited them over for supper, I've played video games with a few... need to get him on the paintball court sometime soon...

Dave :)

When we go on mission trips, does, drive/ride in the same car as the youth director(a female), but he didn't even stay on the same level in the dorms we stayed in, just so if someone were to walk by, they wouldn't think he was doin sumthin to the youth (guys).

We've had one. I wish we would invite more. It used to be a common practice (throughout the Christian world that is). ::Sigh:: When I'm a preist, I hope someone goes hey, your cool, eat our food >.< .

God bless,

Mikey
