lanie
We've never actually had our parish priest for dinner... but he came round a few months back for some random reason and drank half a bottle of wine and ate a box of pringles! I'm not keen on my parish priest but you know. One of my Mum's friends is married to a priest he converted from CofE. He's been to ours for breakfast a few times when he said mass at our parish when Fr. Paul (the parish priest) was in hospital but for some reason I wasn't at home on either of the occasions he came...
qfnol31
We used to have my old Priest over for dinner. I beat him at checkers once.
Janana8706
yea, we've had a few over in our time. When my bro made his first communion we had both priests at that time. IT was great fun. We've baked blackberry coblers b4 and taken them to a previous priest 3 hrs. away. THis year when we got a new priest we invited him over the first weekend to have dinner w/ us ( we were also haveing a b-day party for my bro.) hopeful1
no, but i'd love to go to lunch one day with my parish pastor! (my parents probably wouldn't like him over for dinner)
cappie
Good to see some of you inviting your priests over for dinner!!! It can be a rather lonely job and can also be very draining so it's good to see people care about the pastor. No body in my parish seems to have time to eat with me!!! Maybe it's time to change the deoderant ha ha

MorphRC
A few years ago, my mum was coming back to the Church, as in attending mass again..not like me, anyways he came over, and walked thru the gate, and my mum was like 'Excuse who are you?', anyways before he could say anything she made him leave..lol..btw he wasnt wearing the roman collar, but civy clothes, and shes irish so seeing a priest out of uniform is a bit of a shock. So she apologized and invited him over, etc etc. We both went back to Mass, and he started coming over, playing cards watching tv, movies, he was a great priest. Looked after me when my mum went for hip replacement surgery. and then stayed on at our house looking at both of us for a further 2 wks. He was the most loving, caring, kind, down to earth bloke, and priest ive ever met. But a few yrs ago, he had to move to canberra.

Sanvean
I know some people who have thought about inviting a priest over for dinner, but most of those folks are unmarried women, and it never seems appropriate. *ponders* But I have walked through a park downtown praying the rosary with one of my parish priests... The *looks* we got.

Sanvean
Those people need to get their minds outta the gutter.
Perhaps so. At the same time, things like that can cause quite a bit of scandal in the public eye. Sadly, it seems to actually be worse with other Catholics. Point in case: Before leaving for the summer, I was having a lot of meetings with a priest. We ended up having long discussions on prayer and philosophy and the like. The day before I left, he gave me his old copy of "Introduction to the Devout Life". ... One of my roommates, a cradle Catholic, was *furious* that I was talking with a priest outside of the standard meet and greet after Mass. It seems that, in her family, that's a horrifically inappropriate situation. I didn't quite understand, but figured there's been a lot of cultural things I've missed out on, being a convert.
