Ash Wednesday
*sigh* Brings back so many fond memories of when I went to Rome.... Actually I liked London more, Rome was so chaotic, and I got hit on by italian men, that was scary. But I'd love to see more.... *sigh*

Ash Wednesday
is it true that Europeans hate americans? I've always wanted to go to Rome.
No, absolutely not. If you are kind and gracious, you will not have problems. Even the French were kind when I was in France. I've even been in Europe when the whole Iraq debacle was going on in 2003, and I didn't get any flack for being an American. (It was more like "We like you Americans, we just can't stand your president") The Americans that get rude treatment ask for it by being rude themselves, talking REALLY LOUD (as if that will make you better understood?) and basically act like Europeans should be fawning over them for being graced with their presence. And Italians are really intense people (flashy and outgoing), but they can also be VERY sweet and so generous. Some elderly italian gentleman sharing our train car with us bought us each a piece of sweet cake, "just because" :hearts:
