Mary's Virginity

You guys are doing well. St Colette already mentioned this argument but I did not see it in the link that you gave. I think it is a good one. I did not read all the pages so if you already have this one let me know. There are a couple of more arguments that I have up my sleeve. I would flip this around a bit and make it personally to you.

The passage is in Luke 1:34. When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she was about to have a son she said, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?”. This is a very weird statement. I was married two years ago. If an angel told me that I was going to have a son it would not be a big shock. Babies usually come after you get married. But Mary said, “How can this be”. The only way to make sense of this is if Mary had a vow of virginity and this is what Catholic Tradition attests to. Mary was betrothed to Joseph, which was more than an engagement. Joseph even was going to get a divorce from Mary when he found that she was with child.
Before He died upon the cross (as Colette has shown) he gave Mary to John, that she might become the mother of all believers, as we are brothers with her Son, Christ, who is our God and Lord. Moreover, we (his mother's children - read brothers & sisters - in faith) alienate him with our sin. Please note that we place a world of seperation between himself (and Heaven) via sin. This passage serves not only to uphold teachings on Mary as mother of us all, but also on the existence of mortal sin, which seperates us from He who saved us.
JEFF YOU ARE BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

I was trying to think of a way to argue about Psalm 69 and you said EXACTLY WHAT I COULDNT SAY! GOD BLESS YOU!

I’m still an amateur so I’m not the end all and be all to apologetics. I’m just in love with Christ’s bride. JeffCR07 is just as good if not better of an apologist than I am.

Dang man, I said something like this already before I read this. I could've worded my statement better. But oh well... It's gettin' intense in there.
goldenchild...I tried to help you out some...I just posted twice...and pointed out some things that hadn't been pointed out yet
Thanks for all the help. It gets difficult to reply to every single thing that they throw at us, so it's good to have some help. I just wanted to say that one thing that we both might want to do, is tone it down a little bit. i know it's getting heated, but we still need to remember to be charitable. After all, we can always win the argument without winning over their hearts. Just keep that in mind. It's something I need to work on too.

exactly.

one must be humble, always aware that widom comes from the Word of God, and that even his foolishness surpasses our most profound insight.
