CreepyCrawler
Yeah, so I went into work today and my tells me he found a replacement for me. That's good since I'm quitting in two weeks. Then he tells me he can't pay for two people at the same time. I'm confused. Then he tells me that this new person is working today, during my shift, and in the future. Basically, he fires me when I come in to work today because I am quitting. Can he do that? He knew this last week but he didn't even have the courtesy to tell me. I think he's a jerk. But I'm just mad  Vote now

cmotherofpirl
Do you have a contract? Can you get unemployment for these two weeks since you were technically fired? Edited July 27, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
theculturewarrior
I know I don't need to tell you this, CC, but it might help to pray for your boss. "Father forgive them," was perhaps the most benevolent yet difficult "curse" Jesus could have uttered, because in order for the Father to forgive, we have to receive his forgiveness, which isn't always easy, especially when you're the boss and you're a jerk. I hope this helps.

Soldier4Him
:nono: Yikes. Hey Creepy, AND EVERYONE WHO VOTED YES, go read my last post in the resistance thread in the creepy aliens forum. PLEASE. Go read it. Come on people, what right do we have to judge? There's a reason for this situation Creepy. God has a plan. God let this happen for a reason. We can't judge your boss or label him a dork. What right to we have to do that? Just in case you don't want to go read it or if you're lazy, I'll post it here too: Pray about your boss. And FORGIVE HIM. Read this part of Matthew 18. 21 Then Peter approaching asked him, "Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.' Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount. He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, 'Pay back what you owe.' Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' But he refused. Instead, he had him put in prison until he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?' Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart." I wouldn't want that fate. I hope you don't either. cmotherofpirl
The guy is dork and is probably doing something illegal. There is nothing wrong with judging actions. That doesn't get you out of forgiving him, but he is definitely a dork. Edited July 27, 2004 by cmotherofpirl
homeschoolmom
I had something like this happen to me. I was working in a day care center. I had excepted a teaching job that started in the fall. I told them that something like Aug. 15 would be my last day... then (in July, I went on vacation for a week)... they hired my replacement and left me a looooooooooooong message on my machine (she called back and actually left two messages because the message was so long) to fire me. Needless to say, that kinda spoiled the end of my trip. But since I had a better job waiting, it wasn't too bad. But it made going and getting my stuff kinda awkward. And I didn't get to say goodbye to the kids. She did pay me for a few days...
With all due respect, forgiving doesn't mean not feeling hurt, or not voicing anger, etc. It means hoping and praying for the salvation of your enemies. Also, not judging doesn't mean putting blindfolds on and pretending bad things haven't happened to us. If it did, I don't see the difference between judging CC's boss, or judging CC for being angry and even judgemental. God created anger. It is natural, and if you do the right thing with it, it is holy.
Phazzan
I never understood this whole "forgiveness" thing. So, are you saying if someone walked into my house and shot dead my entire family, I'd be required to forgive them, even if they walked out laughing feeling no remorse whatsoever? That's carp! God doesn't forgive us till we repent and confess, so why should we? It's not in our nature too, quite the contrary actually. If someone causes us pain and suffering, the last thing we want is for them to have a good life and live happily ever after. Naturally, we want them to experience the same pain and suffering they caused us, and that is normal, it is called JUSTICE. Revenge is a different matter, but works on the same principle. Revenge however is evil, and should not be compared. That's how people learn, you PUNISH them, they learn, you forgive them, they think you're a dork. CreepyCrawlers ex-boss was clearly being a jerk, no amount of forgiveness will change that. He needs more than prayer, perhaps a stern talking too. ironmonk
Just one note.... Do you realize what "dork" actually means? It's slang for penis.... not nerd or jerk. Just thought I'd bring that to people's attention. God Bless, ironmonk

Fair enough, if they repent I think it would be right to forgive.
