AfroNova No Limit Soldier
sactownconvert, I was taught not to receive the sacrament until after confession UNLESS you are allowed to by a priest. TCW, I have to disagree, too. The Pope goes once a week. And I myself go once a week or once every two weeks (last week I had to go the next friggin' day YIKES). I think for everyone it is different. But for those like me who are battling habitual mortal sins and ministering to a lot of people... yeah, confession once a week isn't too much. Before (in my past life), I couldn't have ever understood the grace received from confession. That grace KEEPS me from committing mortal sin, from even thinking about mortal sin! Dude, sometimes I confess even thinking about wanting to think about mortal sin. But this is me & I am from a different place. Sometimes I feel like it's been months since my last confession when it's really only been like 10 days or something. Also, the more venial sins are committed, the lower the threshold to commit mortal sin becomes. Yup, I been there, too. So confession is good. So is having a spiritual director.
