Oh by the way, if it ever came down to a choice like that, I'd just through in the towel and revolt. what would be the point.

you say the democratic party has most things in line with the church??? except abortion??? well the democratic party is built on LIES and the last time I checked lying is a sin, not to mention abortion, contraceptives, gay marriage, cloning, STEALING which includes stuffing classifyed documents down ur pants and socks! adultry cough:big nose clinton:cough!!!

but oh yea you say that all this unjust war stuff and there was no reason to go to war so lets be like sandy berger wen he had 4 times to get osama bin ladin and didnt for fear of wat other ppl would think- lets be like clinton and not go after these terrorists who are attacking us

it was the terrorists who took a pre-emptive strike on us- its called SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. if thats not pre-emptive enough for you then I DONT KNO WHAT IS!!!!
I found that most of what the Democratic party stands for is often in line with Church teaching, excet the abortion issue.
Ash Wednesday

I love Cmom. And I love how she thinks.

I used to be more of a sympathizer with the Democratic party, a decade ago. Now I think they are worse than the Republicans. Republicans and Democrats are basically the same. The difference is, Democrats put on a mask of wanting to appear more socially aware as Volvo-driving, aluminum-can recycling, I'm-personally-affluent-my-hubby-works-for-Microsoft-and-we-live-a-comfortable-life, but I *REALLY* care about poor people, including the starving people with AIDS in Africa, but would not want anyone doing away with big business or any demands that involve altering my lifestyle, or "reproductive choice" in the event of sexual irresponsibility! After all, we can't "impose" on other people's moralities, even though that involves getting to the root of the problem!?

...

You can NOT compromise when the building blocks of a peaceful society -- family and marriage -- are threatened and disregarded as being "religious issues." That seems to quiet the rightfully troubled conscience when you're thinking about matters of life and death. I used to vote pro-choice and played the usual arguments in my mind and tried to comfort my conscience into saying "it's not a one issue race." Not any more. Catholics need to stop putting up with the b.s.

If you stand up against pro-choice politicians, they will stop supporting abortion. They will do anything for your vote.

If you do away with respect for life and family, you end up with Jerry Springer world. There is no peace with that. And people wonder why radical Muslim terrorists think we are hedonistic and should be removed from the planet? Is the question really that hard to answer?

I voted for them. But in relaity I probly wouldn't vote for either. Rejecting one teaching of the Church is just as bad as rejecting 101. So yeh.

You gotta figure that if someone was pro-abortion, they'd also probably support unlimited embryonic stem cell research. Abortion kills millions of people each year. It also kills more than war and the death penalty combined. If the pro-abortion candidate was against gay "marriage," cloning, and euthanasia, and if the anti-abortion candidate supported all of those things, I'm not sure what I'd do. I don't know the exact effects gay "marriage" would have on society, but I know it wouldn't be good. More than likely, I probably wouldn't vote. But if I did, I'd probably vote for the person who supported the least amount of killing. In this case, it'd be the pro-life person.

Bush is definitely more pro-life than Kerry is in terms of abortion. (I wrote about this on my blog on July 17th. You should check it out.) Bush is against abortion, for the most part. Kerry has said he refuses to appoint judges who will overturn Roe v. Wade to the Supreme Court. Overturning Roe v. Wade will definitely be more possible with Bush in office. Bush supports the Iraqi War and the death penalty, which have killed thousands of people combined, but Kerry supports abortion, which kills millions of innocent children each year. Bush seems to support the least amount of killing.

Bush is also against gay "marriage" and is willing to do something to stop it. Kerry, on the other hand, doesn't have much of a problem with it. He's shown himself unwilling to do anything to stop it.

As for cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and euthanasia: I'm going to do some more research to see where Kerry and Bush stand on these issues.

God bless,

Jennifer

Helping the poor and other such things, while important, aren't nearly as important as the abortion issue. Helping the poor, etc. has to do with improving the quality of life for people. Abortion deals with life itself. War and the death penalty also deal with life itself, but the difference is that going to war and using the death penalty aren't intrinsically wrong in that they're not always wrong (unlike abortion, which is always evil).

God bless,

Jen

I will probably vote for Kerry because even though Bush is "pro-life," he hasn't made any concerted effort that I know of to halt the abortion killings. I agree with Flip in that I agree mostly with the democratic ideals, but am pro-life. Therefore, since I agree with Kerry on more issues than I do Bush, added to the fact that Bush has proven he has no intention of making changes in abortion policy anyway...I will vote for John Kerry...I think...probably.
helping the less fortunate (health care and welfare)
Hi, just wondering.. What more should we be doing through the government for the less fortunate? There are welfare, soup kitchens, clothing drives, medicaid (medical and dental), charities, social security, housing, WIC, financial aid for schools, and homeless shelters, just to name a few.

God bless.
