Tony
I think about this off and on.. so I might as well post it... To realise that Mary IS our Mother.. I dont see why look past the Holy Family Tree, and it goes like this: The Blessed Mother Mary gave birth to the Child Jesus, so Jesus calls Mary his Mother... Jesus recognises the same person as Father that we recognise as Father. Since we share the same Father as Christ, that make Christ our Brother.. And since Jesus's Mother is Mary, His Brothers and Sisters (us!) share the same Mother! Anything wrong in this? Hope I havn't confused lol I guess its not a simple as I thought.. but what I was trying to say is don't look past the way any other family tree works to figure out Mary is indeed our Mother God bless Edited July 22, 2004 by Tony

StColette
This is very good But you have to becareful with using this family tree approach with Protestants. While they believe that they are the brothers and sisters of Christ they do not believe that Mary is their mother. If anything they say that Mary is their sister but never their mother. They do not view the giving of Mary into the care of John at the cross the same way as we do. That at this point Mary was to be our mother and we were to be her children in return. They believe that our only connection is through God, who of course created all of us, and is our Heavenly Father, this connection makes us brothers and sisters of Christ. They dont believe in any type of motherly connection between themselves and Mary. Which is sad, because we all know what a great mother she is to us Edited July 22, 2004 by StColette
Tony
yeah thats sad.... I just wish I could say in the nicest possibleway to people that do believeJesus is the Son of God but just consider Mary a sister " its right there!, Mary was Jesus's mother she has to be ours to!" Are there many Protistants that believe Mary is not Jesus's Mother?
Dave
Are there many Protistants that believe Mary is not Jesus's Mother?
Believe it or not, I've actually heard some Protestants claim that. Many claim that Mary was just the mother of Jesus' human nature. Yet they fail to realize that mothers give birth to PERSONS, not NATURES. Another thing that makes me mad is that I've heard Protestants say that Mary just "did her job" and is thus not deserving of any special honor. According to that logic we shouldn't honor our soldiers in Iraq because they're just "doing their job." Or we shouldn't honor police officers and firefighters because they're just "doing their job." Isn't that absurd? And Tony, it's great to see you in the Debate Table! Edited July 23, 2004 by Dave
