point5
This is a theologian that has a two part audio series on the "just for Catholics" website, which actually tries to save us???? Anyway I listened to his audio on Mary and the Immaculate Conception, and felt he left out alot of crucial points, but Im not gonna lie he knew his stuff for the most part, and I was surprised at how many early church fathers rejected the teaching. ANyway I still felt he omitted important topics so I wrote him this little email...hope he responds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Mr. Webster, My name is Kiel Werking and I stopped by the just for catholics site to see what all was being preached there. I came across your audio section and only listened to the 45 minute segment reguarding Mary based on Scripture and the early church fathers. I am only 21 and have not studied near as much as you have, but I felt that you left out some crucial points that are critical when explaining the Roman catholic viewpoint on Mary, in reguards to her Immaculate Conception. First you spoke briefly of comparisons or typologies of Mary as the new Eve, but only said that some of the fathers taught such ideas. You didnt dig into the scriptures dealing with why Mary is considered by many scholars to be the new Eve. You failed to go into Jesus referring to her as "woman" which also leads to this type of analysis about the "new Eve" (I am refraining from further explanation because I realize you are well educated and most likely familiar with the topics I am discussing, so I need not write out in depth explanations, but I will if you request. Another thing that I fell you omitted was the typology of Mary as the "new Ark of the Covenant". I feel the scriptures lay this out pretty clearly, and we can discuss it further if you like. These are both crucial areas to discuss when presenting a solid understanding of the Catholic viewpoint on the Immaculate Conception. Failure to mention such topics as these does not do any listener justice. It also Iseems that you are under the impression that there were no early church fathers that accepted the Immaculate conception. I have many quotes that are contrary to your teachings and can list them as well. The listeners of your audio might be interested in such quotes. In the end we are all seeking truth, and I feel we should present as much truth as we possibly can. I eagerly await your response, and I enjoyed your insightful audio presentations. cmotherofpirl
Remembetr it doesn't matter how many individual Church fathers rejected it, eventually the Church guided by the Holy Spirit said this is the way it was. The only time something cannbnot be accepted is if ALL the Church fathers agreed it was wrong.
