point5 Posted July 21, 2004 Share Posted July 21, 2004 I dont see why it would be wrong to wear a rosary. The rosary itself is not sacred unless blessed. It's original intent when you look back to its roots was to serve as a counter for prayers so you don't get lost. It originally was just rope with knots in it. I dont think wearing one is bad and I think it is a great witnessing tool, cause many people are uneduacted about it, Mary, and what it really means. flip Posted July 21, 2004 Share Posted July 21, 2004 i actually bought my first rosary two days ago, and i can't stop praying it! iride the bus everywhere, and walk ecverywhere esle, so i always have it on me and pray it on the bus or on foot. sometimes, i just wrap it around my wrist/hands and contemplate the world around me... so yeah, lots of cats see me downtown with it wrapped around me, like im wearing it... so ithink...its awesome towear it. if cats want towear it as a fashion statement, i dont see anything wrong with that...because i dont have anything wrong with someone wearing a cross as jewlery.... antyhing that promotes Christ is ok with me. crosses, jesus t's, and rosaries make me smile... I mean, you might be cool even[i] if [/i]you wear it as a necklace, but i think probably you're cooler if you don't. dUSt Posted July 23, 2004 Share Posted July 23, 2004 I think wearing it is okay if you are wearing it for the right reasons. Wearing it to be cool is not showing the proper respect. If it's blessed it's no longer just beads on a string, but a sacramental, and should be treated with care and reverence. Then again, those people who wear it just to look "cool" are probably ignorant of the true meaning behind the rosary, so are not really guilty of sinning. [/quote] i think hanging it from the mirror is pretty i cool. i look at all the crs i drive by to see if they have one. but i guess it can be the same as wearing it, you gotta do it for the right reasons. one of the greatest places to pray the rosary is in the car, thout. i talked to one priest that does that no matter how long he's driving for. now me, i gotta have some music. besides, for all you catholic nerds, the indulgence gained through saying a private rosary calls for the physical possession of one, like in your hand....unless you're driving or something, then you should keep your hands on the wheel, i guess. so hanging it would count for the indulgence.
