Thy Geekdom Come
lol, i still can't believe this quote from the phorum guidelines didn't persuade anyone!
I must maintain my original position:
I'm sorry, but I must come to the defense of the personal threads. As I read the guidelines, I can't see how they were restricting anything other than threads which were more appropriate for PMs. These personal threads are more like rites of passage and PMer phan clubs. They are intended as a jocular series of threads. But hey, the mods have the power.
voiciblanche
lol.. actually urs doesn't annoy me the ones that seem more pointless do..
I'm annoyed by the fact that they've gotten to be anywhere over twenty or so pages long... I mean, one hundred pages is a little over-the-top. -_-
voiciblanche
Maybe we should make all the personal threads into 1 super-huge personal thread
-shudders at the thought-
voiciblanche
And then there are those who haven't seen someone on Phatmass for a while, and are just wondering if they're ok. Bottom line: It's personal preference. There is nothing wrong with personal threads, as long as they're not being used to attack individuals, and if there were, dUSt would have done something about it. If you don't like them, don't post or read them, but don't take away another person's ability/ privelege to post them... Remember it is each of us' priveleges that we're even here to begin with.
You're right, Mrs. Bro. (Duh.) I guess some of us just like to rant.
VeraMaria
I don't mean to spoil the fun for everyone, but I miss PM the way it used to be With so many Personal Threads cluttering Open Mic and "Free Threads" all over the CA section...there doesn't seem to be much to look forward to anymore, because threads that aren't the chain threads are bumped all the way down. I am guilty, I started the Complaining Thread and Complimenting Threads. Once they got a little long and started cluttering, I closed them but people staretd new ones so I just re-opened. Maybe it's just me. But before personal threads, the way you got to know people (especially newbies) was by how they posted in various threads on many different subjects. Then you'd start sending PM's, sometimes it ended up in MSN conversations... But now, if all the newbies and others stay in personal threads (don't get me wrong, I know they;re very fun) you just don't seem to get out of them and "socialize", so to speak. So I feel like I don;t know many people who joined recently. That's just my view. It'd be nice to have Open Mic a bit richer.
VeraMaria
and before you start on me, yes, I'm guilty of starting random rants about my life and P&P threads, but they're welcome to die and never come back

I miss how things were before as well... but I take the blame for a few threads myself. -_-

let_go_let_God
It's true, I mean there are many threads that used to be around open mic and CA that I looked forward to but, now I have seriously thought about leaving PM for quite a while and see if things settle down. I miss the good old days of PM even though it was only a few months ago.

StColette
As you all can tell the personal threads are beginning to settle accept for the occasional person who bumps it they just settle right back down. Soooo I believe the craze is ending.

theculturewarrior
I like the personal threads for the first two pages. Once they get to about page 68, I get a little intimidated.
