phatcatholic
cure, i would like to continue the recruitment process at least until the end of the week, but we can still begin to iron out the details for how to group people together so we are ready once recruitment has ended. i believe you mentioned a series of questions to be used as a possible criteria. here are some other ideas (we should probably concede at the onset that this won't be a very scientific process) 1. each person give a personal rating from 1 to 10 --1 to 3: below average knowledge and experience --4 to 6: average knowledge and experience --7 to 9: above average knowledge and experience --10: expert knowledge and experience of course, subjective ratings always vary in reliability. also, 9's and 10's will probably be "floaters"--those people who answer questions here about the work others are doing and do a little work of their own at all the sites we visit. 2. you and i could objectively rate each volunteer --based on the same 1 to 10 scale --based on their Group title: Church Faithful, Church Militant, Church Scholar --based on the degree of ability that we have witnessed in each person w/ this method, we risk the possibility of offending people when we give them a rating lower/higher then what they would rate themselves. 3. a possible blending of all the methods --use their subjective rating w/ our own objective estimation of their knowledge/skill and the answers they give to the questions from your method --what questions would we ask? i think this may be the safest way b/c it does not rely too solely on one method. plus, the resultant grouping will be the product of many types of information. so, cure, i guess what i need now from you are the questions that you have in mind to ask our volunteers. also, what do u think of what i have posed so far? do you have any other ideas for how to group people together? holla back, phatcatholic
Cure of Ars
This is what I am thinking. Phatmass User Name: These questions are going to be used to help pair people together so that they can compliment each other. Just answer the questions to the best of your ability. The details of these questions will remain confidential. The following questions are on a scale of one to four, with four meaning that you have advanced knowledge and one meaning that you have beginning knowledge. How much knowledge do you have of the Bible? How much knowledge do you have of apologetics? How much knowledge do you have of the Doctrines of the Church and the Catechism? How much knowledge do you have of Church history and the early Church fathers? How much knowledge do you have of Papal Encyclicals, Ecumenical Councils, and Canon Law? How much knowledge do you have of spirituality, prayer, saints, and devotions? How much knowledge do you have of philosophy? How much knowledge do you have of answering anti-Catholic propaganda? Short answer questions; Do you belong to one of the following groups on Phatmass, Church Faithful, Church Militant, or Church Scholar? If so which group? Do you have a year or more experience actively defending the faith on the Internet? If so explain? How many hours a week, on average, can you spend doing apologetics? Would you describe yourself as more of a passionate person with strong feelings or more of a logical person who tries not to get too emotionally involved when doing apologetics? Or are you somewhere in the middle? I don't know if we want to ask the question about fidelity to the Church and willingness to comply to the Phatmass forum rules on other websites. If they are not able to do these two things they need to be taking care of this first before they can defend the faith. I was also thinking that it would be cool if those who were actively doing apologetics with us could have a champions tag above their avatar like when someone ranks first place in an arcade game. Going out and defending the faith is a lot of work and it is emotionally exhausting confronting lies, evil, and hatred. It would be a good way of giving props. I don’t know if we can do this but I think it’s a good idea. Edited July 20, 2004 by Cure of Ars
phatcatholic
cure, awesome questions! i think they will by very helpful. also, if each person is willing to sit down and spend some time answering these questions, that will show us how committed they are to this project.
I don't know if we want to ask the question about fidelity to the Church and willingness to comply to the Phatmass forum rules on other websites. If they are not able to do these two things they need to be taking care of this first before they can defend the faith.
i think fidelity both to the Church and the rules here at Phatmass is important. we are from Phatmass, so we have to represent Phatmass well both in our content and our conduct. if you could, find that thread where dUSt put the code for those banners and ask him if he can make more for the rest of us. (that is, if your cool w/ using those) thanks cure! pax christi, phatcatholic Edited July 20, 2004 by phatcatholic
