If I define intelegngice as a chanage of actions based on past exprinces and or new infromation than Liz, alas, cannot be as dumb as I wanted to think her to be. However, she was slow in that she didn't see Mr Darcy's love for her, even with Mrs. Collins help and her aunt's hints, until he confessed it for her. Therefore, I stand by that she was slow and blind yet not dumb.
:o
I dislike with a passion dumb people.
So, since he likes Elizabeth Bennet, therefore by that logic, she is not dumb. I can't believe he said it!

Well... I could be answering that to you to to Voici. So did I really call Liz not dumb or did I call by proxy someone else not dumb? LOL!

The moral of the story is, Elizabeth Bennet is not dumb, female authors are not dumb, I am not dumb, you are not dumb, and the person Voici would assume you are referring to is not dumb, either.

The end.

Ummm I disagree with the lumping of female authors. Have you read Ethan Frome? Across Five Aprils? Select female authors ARE not dumb.

No, I haven't read those. But for every awful female writer, there's an awful male writer.

Although I must admit, the majority of books that I really disliked reading in school were written by women. But that's beside the point.

I think I need to make a list of good, wholesome books written by women and have you read them. :)

All right, that's fair.

Congrats! Those AP Credits really helped me get through school in four years. I took 6 AP classes in high school and the US history and Eurpean History was invaluable as I didn't have to take a single history class in college.
I GOT A FIVE (Perfect) ON MY AP US HISTORY EXAM!

Now Vera, listen to me, I just proved my abilities to take that test and teach that class STOP reading Roots!

:rolling:
Congrats Jacob!!!

I GOT A FIVE ON THE SPANISH AP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But as for Roots...alas, it's to late.... :sadder:

I finished all 800 pages and seven generations of it in 5 days when we were traveling and I had lots of time to read. I couldn't help but like it once it got started....it's incredibly detailed (I mean 90 pages about Chicken George with his fights...if you read the book, you know what I mean) but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, though rather long-winded.

:D

90 pages on one thing... lol that would drive me nuts. I can barly stand it when they over detail something. Like when we were taking the tour at Gettsusburg and the CD said, "drive up to the stop light. If it is red, stop. At green proceed through the light..." LOL! I mean comon we do have brains. Small American ones, but they are there, hehe.

Yeah, 90 pages about...CHICKENS!!! Not really, but every few seconds it's sidetracked by random descriptions completely irrelevant to the story! Here goes some from memory:

"The blood burst out of the eyes of the chicken and seeing it could not be saved, Chicken George decided to cut off it's head. The ground was soaked with blood. As he wept bitterly, he saw a coin on the ground. The coin was made in a factory that was located in Spotscounty, Virginia, owned by the rich Mr. Hendrickson. It burned down in 1871, but thanks to the efforts of the esteemed Mr. Patrickson, and the support of the citizens of Spotscounty, Virginia, it was rebuilt in 1891, with the finishing touched being made in 1894. So anyway, back to the coin. He looked at it but didn;t feel like picking it up. He picked his coat up from the ground. His coat was actually made in 1802..."

And that's how it goes, the whole book is descriptions ARGH it drove me nuts.

Oh, and it's like the SAT tests.

"Pick up your pencil from your desk. put it on the paper. Start writing. Stop Writing. Put your pencil back on your desk on the left side of your test booklet"
