Paladin D
I don't know if I'm called to the priesthood, not everyone is. However, those who do accept it are... 1. Accepting their calling. 2. Are brave. ...would anyone agree that God doesn't call everyone to the religious life? If He did, where would our offspring be? Guest JeffCR07
your right on, Paladin, the priesthood is a very special calling, and it isn't one that everyone has. Lucky for us, we can glorify God in anything we do, and we can turn whatever calling we have towards Christ!
StColette
Alright I finally found what I was looking for
When God Created Mothers By the time the Lord made mothers, he was into his sixth day of working overtime. An Angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one?" And the Lord answered, "Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic; have 200 movable parts, all replaceable; run on black coffee and leftovers; have a lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up; have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart; and have six pairs of hands." The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. "Six pairs of hands? No way!" said the Angel. The Lord replied, "Oh, it's not the hands that are the problem. It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers must have!" "And that's just on the standard model?" the Angel asked. The Lord nodded in agreement. "Yep, one pair of eyes are to see through the closed door as she asks her children what they are doing, even though she already knows. Another pair in the back of her head is to see what she needs to know even though no one thinks she can. And the third pair is here in the front of her head. This pair is for looking at an errant child and saying that she understands and loves him or her without even saying a single word," The Angel tried to stop the Lord. "This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish. "But I can't!" the Lord protested. "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can feed a family of six on a pound of hamburger AND can get a nine year old to stand in the shower." The Angel moved closer and touched the woman. "But you have made her so soft, Lord." "She is soft," the Lord agreed. "But I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish." "Will she be able to think?" asked the Angel. The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate." The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one." "That's not a leak," the Lord explained. "That's a tear!" "What's the tear for?" the Angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her disappointment, her pain, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride." The Angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything, for WOMEN are truly amazing,"

Colleen
lol, I can just see it now... God is up on his cloud, he's made all of creation and just finished Adam. He looks down at it all and Jesus goes: "Ok, God, that whole making-the-universe thing was pretty sick, but what happened with Adam...I think you definately dropped the ball with that one. Something went majorly wrong somewhere in between "clay" and "man."" God: "Yea...I kind of see your point...its cool though, I have this idea for something way better: watch this. God makes woman Jesus: "Ok, yea, now I've gotta hand it to you, that totally makes up for the whole "man" thing."
rofl! That's hilarious, Jeff! cmotherofpirl
St. Edith Stein's "Spirituality of the Christian Woman": Woman's soul is present and lives more intensely in all parts of the body, and it is inwardly affected by that which happens to the body...This is closely related to the vocation of motherhood. The task of assimilating in oneself a living being which is evolving and growing, of containing and nourishing it, Moreover, the mysterious process of the formation of a new creature in the maternal organism represents such an intimate unity of the physical and spiritual that one is well able to understand that this unity imposes itself on the entire nature of woman. Now, after considering the relationship of soul and body, let us turn to the interrelationship of the spiritual faculties. We see that they are in a state of interdependence--one cannot exist without the other. Intellectual cognition of reality is the necessary point of departure for emotional response. The incitements of the emotions are the mainsprings of the will; on the other hand, the concern of the will is to regulate intellectual activity and emotional life. But the faculties are in no manner equally dispensed and developed.... The strength of woman lies in the emotional life. This is in accord with her attitude toward personal being itself. For the soul perceives its own being in the stirrings of the emotions. Through the emotions, it comes to know what it is and how it is; it also grasps through them the relationship of another being to itself, and then, consequently, the significance of the inherent value of exterior things; of unfamiliar people and impersonal things. The emotions, the essential organ for comprehension of the existent in its totality and in its peculiarity, occupy the center of her being. The condition that struggle to develop herself to a wholeness and to help others to a corresponding development, which we have found earlier to be characteristic of woman's soul.
