Oik
If a woman doesn't have a uterus, is that an impediment to marriage. Technically, she is stll able to perfrom the act of the marital embrace. I have even heard of babies being born (some without any defects) when the mother didn't have any amneotic (sp?) fluid. So, can a woman without a uterus get married and why/why not? Pio Nono
JMJ 7/20 - St. Barhadbesciabas (believe it or not, he's the saint for the day) Oik, Good question, and it touches on a lot of sensitive issues. Let me give you another scenario in order to illustrate my final answer... Say an unmarried man was called up to go and serve in Iraq. While in Iraq, he steps on a land mine, and said mine proceeds to explode. In the process of the explosion, let's say that his genitalia were blown off of his body. This fact is lamentable (to which every man on PhatMass can attest), however, we must face reality, however sad it may be. Because he does not have the parts proper to having sexual intercourse, he cannot be married. Your situation is a bit different, but the outcome must be the same. Though this woman may have all the parts proper to sexual intercourse, and while she may have sexual intercourse, a main component for the support of life is missing. If a woman cannot support a fetus before marriage, then she cannot be married. Because she cannot accomplish one of the main points of marriage (procreation), she cannot consummate the marriage; thus, she cannot be married (though, if already married before the loss of the uterus, the marriage remains). If I am incorrect on this matter, though, I ask my fellow Scholars to correct me. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
