Guest LongHardRoad
Recently, I went to confession. One of the things that I confessed was that I had crossdressed. At the end, my priest said that there wasn't anything wrong with it, but in the "heat of the moment" I forgot to ask him about that. Is it a sin or not? I'm confused. I was raised to always believe that it is. Any help you could provide would be great. Thanks.
cmotherofpirl
It probably depends on why you did it.
Dave
If you did it strictly for laughs, then that wouldn't be sinful. If you did it because, say, you derived sexual pleasure from it or if you felt like you were better off wearing female attire rather than male attire for whatever reason, then that would be sinful. mmmerf
Yeah - if you were doing it as part of a play or as a joke or something, then it's okay. If you were doing it to entertain misdirected sexual desire, then that's a problem. Edited July 20, 2004 by mmmerf
EcceNovaFacioOmni
Yeah I agree. Deuteronomy 22:5 comes to mind.

qfnol31
If you thought you shouldn't do it before, and did it still, then that would be a sin against your conscience.
mmmerf
Consider exploring the Highland Kilt as an act of moderation. I'm kidding, of course. Couldn't help myself.

carrdero
I don't think that this is an abomination to GOD. GOD I think is above the decision of what people wear and what they do not wear. I think that it is up to the individual to decide what articles of clothing pleases them or what particular clothes are fashion disasters. As for the Deuteronomy 22:5 scripture, I was an alter boy for a couple of years and my uniform (as well as the priests) was not exactly a declaration of masculinity. Aloysius
priestly vestements are not feminine!!! men usedto wear robes like that as everyday clothing all the time. they're not dresses. what all the other people said is correct, God's desire is not for our comfort but rather for our wellbeing. God wants us to accept the gender He created us to be. we should wear men's clothing if we are men, we should wear women's clothing if we are women. to do anything else because we're somehow comfortable pretending to be another gender or because of some sexual fantasy is an abomination to the LORD who created us in the gender we are. Madonna
Pants used to be strictly men's clothing though. We wear them now. so do you dress according to culture? This is such a gray area.
