The website below provides information on Eastern Catholic Churches:

St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church - Resources

The main menu leads to various small pages with information on Eastern customs, how we make the sign of the cross, and other information about the customs, vestments, arrangement of Church buildings, etc., and there are also zip files which contain prayers and other things from the Divine Liturgy.

It's so funny Apotheoun, but I've recently been looking into the Eastern Churches. They're incredibly interesting, a whole facet of Catholicism that I barely even knew existed. Thanks for providing the link.

Thanks Todd, we've been needing a link like that for a while...someone should post it permanently on the site!

Apotheoun: That site was great! Thank you so much for the link. There is such great tradition within the Eastern Church and so much to learn about it.

May God Bless! :)

I was excited to hear that Houston finally got its first Maronite Catholic Church. Here is the link for all the Houstonians out there. :)
Do you know where I can find information on the fasting requirments for the Byzantine Church?
"Several Times in the Year the Byzantine Church prescribes periods of fasting. The least important (but most visible) aspect of this fasting is a change in the quantity and quality of food: we eat one meal a day, with no animal products. The practice of fasting comes highly recommended by the Holy Fathers and Mothers and, indeed, by the word and example of our Blessed Lord Himself, it is always seen as a means of purification, usually before some significant work to be done or decision to be made."

The Byzantine Church has two major fasts during the year.

-The Christmas Fast (Phillip's Fast)
From November 15 to The Feast of The Nativity of Our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ

-Fasting During Great Lent

The site below gives the traditional regulations for fasting in the Eastern Rites, although some of these norms may have been abrogated or altered by the particular Churches sui juris. In order to determine which norms still apply, one would have to contact the Eparchial authority for the particular rite in question.

Last year I think several of our members took part in the Great Fast of the Byzantine Church.
