Question For The Gop...

They are pretty mild in their pro-life convictions, methinks.

The third party candidates really look good from where I sit. Of course, they never get into office so it's hard to see how serious they are in their own convictions. <_<

It is frustrating. I'll probably vote for Bush due to his stance on Gay marriages and he at least limits stem cell research.

2 out of the 3 speakers are Roman Catholic. :) Rudi Guilliani and Arnold. I'm so ticked off that Ron Reagan is going to speak at the Democratic National Convention! How dare he insult his family. Ron says that he is going to speak about stem-cell research and how it could have saved his father. What most people don't is that Ronald Reagan and his first son Michael Reagan were huge opponents of stem-cell research. May God Bless!

I'm not sure about Rudy Giuliani, but I know for a fact that Gov. Terminator there is pro-abortion. Thus, he is as bad a Catholic as John Kerry, Tom Daschle, Nancy Pelosi, etc. He is not a better Catholic just because he's Republican, and that's the insinuation that I get so tired of seeing -- if he's pro-abortion, he should be treated like all the pro-abortion politicians are being treated, not better just because he's a Republican.

I don't know why the Republicans would have any pro-abortion politicians speaking at their convention. They really must not be as pro-life as they claim.

I agree that he's just as bad as Kerry... in far as abortion. The thing about Arnold though is that he didn't try to buy Catholic votes by going to Church.

He's not allowed to take communion either, but I haven't heard of him going to Mass so his Catholicity might be mute.

He's also not in the news as much as kerry... that could be why he's not a topic of conversation... when he was running he was the topic of conversation, and we all here agree with you on it.

Is Michael Reagan Catholic? I thought I saw him make the sign of the cross at the end of the Reagan burial service.

We should put up a "Catholic Celebrity Sightings" section.

How ironic. I watched for all the signs of the crosses at the Simi Valley burial service too. lol. I counted about 100 of them. Michael Reagn did indeed make the sign of the cross. I searched on the internet for about an hour last night looking to see if Michael Reagan was Catholic but couldn't find anything on his religious beliefs.
If the GOP is the "Party of Life" why are all the speakers at their convention pro-choice?

peace...
Because, with the exception of a few of the members, the Republican Party is not really all that pro-life.
honestly, I dont know if he is or isnt, he may be anglican.
I know that Michael Reagan's Dad was raised Episcopalian. I don't know about Michael though. Ronald Regan's father was an apathetic Catholic and did not take the initiative to raise Ronald Catholic. Ronald would have made a great Catholic!

Ron would've made a terrible Catholic. He, later in life, acknowledged his fetish for the University of Notre Dame (the locale of his lone cinematic triumph), but his only "religion" was circumstantial American Conservatism.

And we benefit genuinely from that, in many ways... but let's not traffic in hyperbole. The Republican party is only marginally preferable to the Democratic party in life issues. If polls shifted appreciably tonight re abortion and birth control and the death penalty and stem cell research, the vast majority of our elected Republican officials would soon follow. Mr. Gallup trumps Mr. Jesus, and don't you forget it.

Hi Nate,

I agree with you. Arnold is just as bad as Kerry in his support of abortion. I don't care if someone is a Democrat or a Republican. If they support abortion, gay "marriage," etc., they lose my support.

God bless,

Jen

Arnold goes to Mass regularly with his family. He was the biggest donner to Cardinal Mahoney's fund, like a few Million$$$, for the new Our Lady of Angels Cathedral in L.A.

And for that alone he is to be regarded with suspicion.
And for that alone he is to be regarded with suspicion.
No offense intended, but I don't agree in any way, shape, or form if this quote was intended the way it sounds. A person should never be held suspect because of an act of charity. If you hold him suspect for being pro-abortion, fine, thats a perfectly valid reason. If you hold him suspect because you don't agree with his political views, fine, thats a perfectly valid reason. If you hold him suspect for an act of charity, not fine, because that is like saying that all catholics should be held suspect for acting catholic.

I don't think you intended for it to be read that way at all (at least I hope not) but I just thought the distinction should be made.
