Us Texans are fortunate to have 2 senators who are very, very conservative in their morals. I'll pray for Louisiana's US senators. May God Bless! ICTHUS
You can thank the following senators for wanting to keep God out of your lives, and make ssa marriages legal. Please vote them out. Bad Republicans in bold.
You are, of course, assuming that Republican is the only responsible choice a Christian could make. I was thrilled that you pointed out the bad Republians who voted against the amendment. ironmonk
Well stated ironmonk.
Actually, years ago the Republican party was bad... there were a lot of KKK in it. The parties have flip flopped during the early 70's.... the bigots (most of anyway) are gone... Those special interest groups that go against God kind of flocked to the democrat side... Granted, there are still some wackos in the republican party, but not nearly as many as in the democrat side. The rep. party is far from perfect, but right now, and the last 25 years it has been the party that has been closest to Catholic Church teachings. If they changed for the worse, I would change. A major problem is we have lifelong politicians... people loose touch when they do that. There is a lot of money to be made and power to be had... it attracts the wrong type of people. This is why examining their personal lives is such an important issue.... if someone cannot keep their own house in order, how can they manage society? We need statesmen... not politicians. Someone to get the job done, pass the torch and get back to a normal life. God Bless, ironmonk
Ironmonk: I believe that the Republican Party is far from perfect; however, it is the only party that is built upon a strong foundation of morals. Conservative Democrats (Dixiecrats) were the ones mainly associated with the Ku Klux Klan-not Republicans. I do agree, ironmonk, that our legislative and judicial branches need drastic change. There are politicians on both sides of the aisle who have served their states and districts for 20+ years. They get all caught up with their title and forget who they are representing. This has truly become a problem. Today's Federal Marriage Amendment failure is a prime example of what Washington insiders can do. ironmonk
Conservative Democrats (Dixiecrats) were the ones mainly associated with the Ku Klux Klan-not Republicans.
Bro... it came out years ago that there were many many rep senators that were kkk. I believe that it was around 1960 when a group of reps were found to be kkk. The kkk since the 1920's has mostly been white (of course) protestants who hated jews, Catholics, and anyone dark skin. There are some dems now that 'where' kkk... but years ago, the rep party was nothing like it is today. Racism was big... years ago when the democrat majority were good people, it was them that ended segregation. The republican party has changed, so has the democrat party... the change started before I was born (1973)... and has continued to go the same direction. The rep party has become more moral and social just, whereas the dem party has been loosing morals and seeming to want to build dependancy on the walfare system. Back in the 1800's the rep party was the party that was opposed to slavery, and that ended slavery... Lincoln was a republican. My whole point is that the parties change over time... if in 30 years the republican party is the bad apple, leave it... I doubt it will be at the radical things that are going on now, but if it is... it'll be time to change. There are people that their whole family is democrat and that's why they remain... We should go to the party that fits our faith best, support the party, iron out the kinks, and make the party Catholic, who will follow the morals set forth by God through the Church. Right now, that party closest to our faith is the rep. party. God Bless, ironmonk
crusader1234
Patry Patronage is silly unless you are forced into it in my opinion. Thanks for mentioning the decent Democrats... there are environmentally decent and economically decent (economically in MY opinion) Republicans as well. I support this group of people, even if there are only about 10 of them total.
catholicguy
Both of the Georgians voted for it. Miller is a democrat but as far as I know, he is a "southern Democrat", so I think he is morally acceptable. I do not know for sure, though. I am originally from CT, so Sen. Lieberman and the other Senator (probably a bad Catholic) voted against it. That is amazing. The two religions that are pro-family more than any other have "members" of the religion voting against it. What a joke. M.SIGGA
Both parties are driven by money and are totally corrupt - liars who will say anything for a dollar and move their personal agenda. A lie is a lie, whether it's purgery about a sexual affair or Alqeida in Iraq. Lies only come from one place I don't understand how is everyone so surprised the Bill didn't pass? Honestly just look at America; watch television for 5 min. Edited July 16, 2004 by M.SIGGA
