BeenaBobba
I truthfully don't see anything offensive in lanky's original post. That people have been reading the Bible and coming up with their own interpretations isn't shocking. This is common knowledge to Catholics, and it's often an argument we use to refute Sola Scriptura. If anything, I think the joke the radio guy brought up might have lightened the mood. Of course, as jokes often do, it relied on hyperbole. Not all Protestants, after all, start a new denomination once they understand the Bible -- but many have. No good, orthodox Catholic would deny that they're glad to be Catholic over being a member of any other religion. That's to be expected. I wouldn't be surprised if a Lutheran, for example, said, "I'm glad to be Lutheran and not Catholic." Yes, we're to be kind to all people -- even people who disagree with us -- but we're not to water down Catholicism to make people more "comfortable" or to come across more "nicely." Paul wrote that we need to become all things to all people, but I'm sure he didn't mean that we should compromise the faith, or fail to state the truth, so as not to offend someone. Causing offense is a given when it comes to Catholicism -- and Christianity in general. I also didn't see any personal attacks in any of the posts in this thread. No one called Protestants heretics, idiots, or any other offensive terms. A simple truth was pointed out. That's all. God bless, Jennifer

cmotherofpirl
Ladybug , the poster was quoting a protestant minister making a comment about protestants. All Lanky is doing is agreeing with the guy. That does not violate phorum guidlines. And it is the truth.
