[Rosarium]

Sorrowful Mother 

Poem in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows

 

Sorrow invades your beautiful, innocent heart Sorrowful Mother

I stand and watch, Blessed Mother

I hear you wail, scream, cry 

it felt like all of Heaven wept and Earth was ladden with sorrow.

The sky, Sorrowful Mother, was black and dark

as you held your Son, 

so pale and lifeless and cold

into your broken, but beautiful Immaculate Heart

as silent tears fell from your sweet, angelic eyes.

Your Son, 

who is so fair and rosy cheeked 

is now pale as the moon.

You, Sorrowful Mother pushed his dark brown strands of hair,

mingled with his glorious Precious Blood,

out of His lovely face.

Memories flood Your thoughts as you look back

to the days when You raised Him,

in a humble, beautiful home in Nazareth.

You held Him close as He hurt Himself from playing outside,

You soothe Him with majestic, sweet words and songs of love,

flowing from Your Heart.

As He snuggled close to You and St. Joseph,

I bet His beautiful face looked up at yours and gently smiled at you,

His adorable eyes smiling as His soft, innocent childlike giggles warm Your Heart.

What puts a smile on Your sweet face was when He softly says I love you.

You hug Him close as His Sacred Heart is beating,

while Your Immaculate Heart pounded with adoration and love.

As He grew older,

You and Him will talk about everything.

You, St. Joseph and Jesus would laugh, sing, eat together and enjoy each others presence.

Now,

that was all memories,

As Your face was bathing His cold face with kisses and tears,

You broke down.

From the Cross He entrusted You to St. John,

and then Jesus entrusted You to be our Mother.

Sorrowful Mother,

in desolation and in pain,

help me feel grief for my sins,

help me get to Heaven,

my gain.

 

Sorrowful Mother,

I love You, I hope You know

may I never let You and Jesus go,

stay with me til the end,

as you stayed with Christ Your Son

to the very end of His earthly pilgrimage.

Sorrowful Mother Mary,

I love you,

I thank you

pray for us,

pray for sinners,

pray for us to turn back to repentance.
