Until I learn from those that were taught from "The Greatest Show On Earth."

Have to run to the magic store and get a few things (make-up, clown shoes, typical thing s one would get at a magic store ;) I also need to get a vanity mirror and find some old clothes at the Salvation Army in order to dress up like a "hobo/tramp" (Red Skelton was a famous "tramp" with Freddy the Freeloader)
CLOWN SCHOOL? Ah dude...Im jealous...

Have a time, learn well.

Maybe you will one day catch the cricket... :ninja:
"catch the cricket?"

And yes, clown school at a Catholic retreat house in MN. They call it camp, but I think school sounds better. Besides we are going to be learning from some of the best the circus has to offer. In fact, I learned one guy was actually on MTV's Oddville, Real World, and featured on Natalie Merchant's video "Kind and Generous." Also, one of the guys that will be teaching is an English Vicar...hope to actually take his course.

You can learn all about it here

BTW, I have been quite selective about who I tell. Those that I have told are very supportive and believe that it will be beneficial to my ministry. It may sound strange, but I believe that God brought this to my attention and wants me to learn how do more than just juggle and put on juggling shows. In other words, use these skills for His greater glory.

God Bless

His Email:

Hi
I've always seen my clowning as my ministry and the exercise of my clowning
as a puesuit of my vocation. I don't touch balloon animals or do cheap
magic. Rather I major on circus-style clowning, slapstick and storytelling.
So I become St Peter telling my story with the help of a rola bola board.
I'm jester to one of the three kings and witness the birth of Jesus. I do a
whole slackrope routine that is all about faith - narrow, wobbly but
exhilarating. My style is cerrtainly quite different to anything you might
have experienced in USA but that's why Dale gets me to come over every year.
I take part in all sorts of big events over here and have the full support
of the Church even though , or perhaps because, I've custard-pied nine
bishops! I think clowning is immensely profound and I'm constantly
surprised by the effect it has on people. The clown is the Jester, the
truth-teller, the one who is licensed to speak of the truth, and he is the
vulnerable lover ever willing to play whatever the cost. The former
Archbishop of Canterbury, Head of the worldwide Anglican communion, is only
too happy to admit to me and others that I reach parts and peole that he
could ever reach and he has thus been always supportive of me, and is now a
patron the Trust that supports my work. So have no doubts or fears, go for
it!
love Roly
umm, they're scary. but that's just me.
Your probably just traumatized from when you were younger...no big thing really ;)

Actually, you would be surprised at how many people fear clowns. Must have something to do with that movie "Killer Clowns From Outerspace."

I told one of my supervisors at the hospital that I was going, he laughed at me and told me I was too serious, he cannot picture me as a clown. Time will tell....

i have a picture of me when i was about 2 or 3 at a parade, and a clown is trying to make me smile, and i'm about ready to cry.

 clowns are bad.

plus, i don't like the whole thing of not being able to tell who's under all that make-up.
