When are kids able to handle misogynistic jokes without buying into misogyny?

When are kids able to handle misogynistic jokes without buying into misogyny? At what age can they tell that is not how things actually are when they hear such jokes from a relative?

Never.  Misogyny and other forms of hate aren't funny.  The jokes are a way to perpetuate the hate--be concerned if your child finds them funny.

Misogynistic jokes are only funny when told to women, just like black jokes are only funny when you tell them to black people.

Why should they handle them? Fat jokes or misogynistic jokes or racist jokes are just an excuse for saying racist and misogynistic things and making fun of fat people (for example) and then passing it off as “it’s just a joke”. Idk, there’s plenty of humor opportunities that isn’t mean spirited. Why make misogynistic jokes the norm?

I think the key thing here is "mean spirited". Telling a black joke to a group of white friends is racist and mean spirited. Telling the same joke to a group of black friends is funny.

I have a rule. Only joke about someone who is there to defend themselves.

With all that said, I do see the wisdom in what you're saying. Not all people like jokes. Many people take things to heart. It's definitely a case of knowing your audience. Generally, you're right--probably not a good idea to just throw out jokes all willy nilly.
